ElectricalFor discussions regarding wiring up electrical modifications such as radar detectors, brake light mods, power sockets, and driving lights in Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs.
Has anyone wired up their rear fog lights on a 2011+ MCS as an Add-A-Brake option? I hate that the bulbs and wiring are there, but they do nothing! Thanks in advance...
If you haven't already figured this out...yes, it is possible. I tapped into a brake light wire and ran new wire down to the fog lights.
I know it's possible to just tap into it. Does this mod cause any issues with the computer due to the extra draw on the circuit from the second bulb? I know that low resistance causes an error with LED's, but does high resistance from an extra bulb do the same?

It hasn't ever caused any sort of computer error/message, but after running it this way for a couple of years, I'm wondering if there's a connection to both tail lights needing to be replaced after the top bulbs connectors began shorting. Mini said they had seen this before and replaced both under warranty.
I wonder if putting an inline resistor would help?
