I have an iPhone 5, and no connecting cable for my Mini connected system. Therefore I just play my stuff via Bluetooth.

When I tied to plug in my phone to the USB the radio switches off Bluetooth and thinks I am using connected.

Is there a way to charge my iPhone while still playing via Bluetooth?

 

One bit of info...
The USB ports on MINI'S are low amp....they meet the computer spec....so charging is VERY SLOW...as in 8+ hours...
So I suggest you buy a charger that has the full 2.1 amp capicity, plug it into the 12v socket......then play the music with Bluetooth.

 

Thanks. I wasn't planning on using the port to recharge a dead phone, rather just tread water with whatever level that I am at.

Although that is useful information in case I ever do need to recharge a dead/dying phone.

 

Why not just buy the new MINI Y cable and use the Connected as designed ? More user friendly, easier to use while on the road.

 

My thought was that Bluetooth worked fine, and I could spend the $100 someplace else other than a cable.
