What kit did you buy? I have a vague recollection that some of the kits intentionally disabled the high beams.

Chances are the kit is only low beams and not a dual-beam kit. If that's the case, by removing the H13 bulb from the halogen housing and replacing it with the HID bulb, you have just removed the hi-beam function from your car. It will be this way, unless you do one the following:

1. Perform the factory HID/Projector retrofit -- Best option, but most expensive
2. Buy aftermarket projectors (like I did) -- Not the best option, I have Hi-beams, but I also have the hi-beam out error you mentioned. I know they work, so I just ignore it.
3. Buy a dual beam HID kit for the H13 bulb -- Not a great idea at all. Running HID's in the halogen housing is wrong for many reasons.
OR
4. Put the halogen H13 bulbs back in the housing -- Probably your best option if you don't want to spend more money.
