Dimming Lights While Idling

Hello everyone, I need some help to identify a problem with my 2003 Mini Cooper S, I notice while idling my lights would dim in and out, can anyone help me with this, Im trying to fix it myself if I can, you can hear something changing everytime it dims, even does it while driving too

Odds are it's the alternator or the battery. More likely the former. Many auto repair shops will do an in car diagnostic on the charging system. Note, however that one told me I needed a new alternator when the issue was the battery...

2003 Mini Cooper S

Thanks for the advice, Im thinking the battery too, cause I left it at a friends house for 2 weeks and when I picked it up, the battery was dead, but Ive been driving it everyday and notice the charge on the battery is very low, the car barely starts after about 8 hours of sitting, Im gonna do a diagnostic at a local auto parts, they do it for free, and see if they can tell me, hopefully its the battery so I can just purchase it right there and then
