Electrical R60 Rain Light Sensor (RLS) retrofit

R60 Rain Light Sensor (RLS) retrofit
As a consequence of ongoing project of AHL retrofit, I have decided to retrofit RLS.
My general assumption is to have this done without changing the windshield.
I have searched the net, and there are examples, that it is possible (it was quite common retrofit it some BMW models - http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=493341
http://www.e46fanatics.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=615032).
I have collected required parts:
- Rain/Light sensor (electronic part) - cost $65 (used)
- Rain/Light sensor's lens - that's the purple element visible from outside - new one from UK 35 GBP
- sensor's plastic cover - $15
- Switch unit claster (SZL) with automatic option for RLS - $30-$50
- wire harness with 4 pin plug (it left from my previous project) + 3 wires 5m long (red 0,5mm2, brown 0,5mm2, white 0,35mm2)
- adhesive film to imitate dedicated windshield.
In R60 the wiring set for RLS is 3 wires - positive, negative and LIN communication. RLS is heated, that is why 2 wires are thicker, then the third one.
The wires needs to be attached to JBE (fuse box on the passenger side in LHD car).
Wiring:
RLS<----------------> JBE (plug / pin)
1<------------------>X11008 / 18
3<------------------>X11002 / 2
2<------------------> any negative - i.e. next to the driver, between seat and door
Coding is required:
- adding VO for RLS (with NCS)
- initializing RLS with INPA
- initializing SZL

Hello, I was looking to do exacly what you explained but there’s very little info on coding the RLS. How did you recoded the RLS with the NCS? And what do you mean with initializing SZL? Like the RLS with the INA or simply enabling lights and wippers int the SZL?
Thanks.
