Dashboard lights

Tonight on my way home, my dashboard lights went out. The speedometer is very dim, the mileage lights and odometer lights are out. When I turn her off and back on all of the lights are dim-then slowly go to black. It's not the dimmer switch. My MC is a 2007 and has just over 80,000 miles. We did look at the fuses and they seem ok......any other suggestions?

dashboard lights

Would the alternator cause just the lights to act up or would there be more issues?

Alternator could cause all of those problems, so could a short in the harness - hope for the alternator. Were you listening to Meatloaf at the time it happened?

I'd guess the alternator before the harness. Without it working you're running solely on battery power and that will run out quick usually. The first sign is dimming of the lights. Check the battery white you're at it.

dashboard lights

So, this morning when I started my mini all the lights came on. Drove my daughter to school, about halfway there the lights on my tachometer again went out.

but only the section that shows the mph, temp and trip information. ALL of the other lights work in the car-including the turn arrows. Radio works, speedometer works, outside lights work.......

Mini is a 2007 s with the original battery in it. Have not had any issues with power surges or with her not starting.....I am lost.

So I started her up this morning and all of the lights came on including the speed, mileage and trip info.

Drove my daughter to school and those again were the only lights I lost. Everything else is working including the turn arrows. Drove into work-radio works, lights inside and out work, no power surges or stalls.......

I am going to have the battery checked tonight.

so they only thing that's going dim is that one gauge? if that's the case it sounds more like a wiring issue.

sounding like a wiring issue since it's that specific. if it was all the lights then it's likely a power issue. or possibly the screen itself is going bad.
