Cigarette Lighter Continuous Power

I just got a dash cam and I currently supply power to it using the cigarette lighter. But once the car turns off, so does the outlet. How can I change it so that the cigarette lighter/outlet provides continuous power even when the car is off?

I dont think that you can easily change it from a switched circuit to a non switched circuit... however, I mounted my GPS up behind the mirror and taped into the hot wire in the overhead control panel so no wires dangling- just went to radio shack and got an extra power outlet and then tucked in in up there- tons of space - look in the "how to's" for radar detector install.... I also ended up putting a switch in the panel to be able to turn off the power easily. . . but that might be another option depending on your mount...

good luck
