.. WHICH Cable??

I see many sites offer very similar looking cables and some with a 20 pin to 16 adaptor as well.

Here is one link.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-INPA-K-D...00898903005%26

Can someone please CLARIFY which cable to order:

I think all Mini's are 16pin.
OBD2 has always been 16 pin. the 20 pin was for cars in the 90's.
That first link is to convert a 90's car to fit an OBD2 scanner.

Accept no substitute, unless you want to order a broken POS and you'll end up ordering this one in the long run.

Feel free to roll the dice on that one. I did, and wasted 8 hours trying to get it working.

I understand your point of view, but man, what a difference in price.

Well, that sucks. Good news is, if you're getting a cable, and you're going to code, whenever you run into any problems, bmwcoding is the place to go (and you'll need an account). No offense to NAM, but bmwcoding is very specialized for the coding stuff.

What type of coding would you be doing?
I thought the obd2 was just for reading codes, clearing them.
What type of risk would you take reprogramming your ecu?
