Electrical Front Rear defrost

Front Rear defrost

OK i have officially came across the weirdest problem ever

Its started to get cold here in the lovely state of kentucky and when i came out to my car the other i had frost all over. So like any normal person i started the car and turned the front an rear defrost on. Problem is as follows

Radio goest to nothing but static
the LED light for the from defrost blinks

Oh i have a 2002 mini cooper s

Im open to any an all ideas here!

Does this happen only when you turn on both front and rear defrost? Does it happen when only the rear or only the front defrost is on?

Ive only noticed when both come on but the green led light on the front defrost blinks whether both are on or just the front

Not sure about the radio issue, but the blinking is normal, as described in this thread from many moons ago. Blinking indicates 'full frontal defrost'. Fan is on full high and it sounds like you're in a wind tunnel. Hold the button for a moment, and the light will stop blinking and the fan will reduce to a more rational level.

good to know the blinking is normal that at least rules that out as being wrong but the radio thing is what has me totally stumped
