Electrical Driving Light Bulb Replacement
Driving Light Bulb Replacement
Hi!
I posted this over in the Countryman forum, as that is the car that I have but the MINI Driving Lights should be the same across the model range.
Does anyone know what bulb type the lights are? I want to replace them with the brightest LEDs I can find.
Also, these lights aren't monitored by the computer for energy draw so I wouldn't need to wire in resistors right?
Thanks,
Kyle

I answered this on the Countryman side, as well. I'll put this here in case anyone else sees it.
On the current-gen OEM Mini Driving Lights (63120417885) for the R60, the bulb is: 12V 55W H3
These are not monitored, so you will be able to run an LED without resistors. Currently, the highest-powered LED H3 is a 7w CREE. I run them in various applications - they look good, but aren't very bright compared to 85w H1/H3s.

Maybe you can help me with replacing the ground screw inside the driving light. The screw attaching the ground wire is small and I don't know if it is a torx or allen head. I need to know what size torx or allen wrench to use. It in really tight and I can't remove it. Thanks
If its shaped like a star, it's a Torx head. Probably around a T10/15 if I'm guessing.
Otherwise it's just an Allen key screw. Go get a cheap Torx tool and an Allen key set at Lowes or HD. It will cost you less than $10 for everything, and you'll have the right sizes in the future.

Thanks for the reply--- but, a 10 torx is too small and a 15 is too large. I have tried every allen wrench I have in two sets. No go. This small screwhead is a pain. I can't even get a pair of pliers on the head to turn it. I don't know if there was such a thing as an in between torx- 11 thru 14 --
Yep, there are bits that are T11,12,13,14.
A good Torx set is cheap and should have them all up to 25 or so.
