glad people are using this method instead of removing the whole dash. Thats a big mess and always extra clips and screws left over. Good luck to those who are trying to code the newer R56s.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the wiring runs boot-to-toggle on a 2013 MCS hardtop? I bought this MINI used and miss having my rear fogs. I already have a source to code them. I have the bulbs in the back with wires coming out (for backup lights i guess) and I know I'll need to install a toggle in the empty plate slot. But I don't want to do all that only to find that they are missing wiring.

Why rear fog lights? I have them on my Volvo and have never used them.

Visibility is my primary concern. The mini does not stand out very well in severe weather as the stock tail lights are rather dim. And I just plain like knowing I have them! The car looks like it has them, has a blank where the switch should be for them, it drives me nuts that they aren't functional.

Yes they are there in the housings for the reverse lights. I've had the switch added and programming done on my 2012 without an issues from Way Motor Sports.

Thanks for the replies! I need to clarify. There are bulbs for the fog lights installed, I have a toggle switch on the way, and I have someone to program it. I have heard from multiple people that in some vehicles, rather than go through the hassle of fully installing rear fogs minus the toggle switch, MINI started leaving out some of the actual wiring as well on vehicles that were not ordered with that option. So, what I am unclear on is if my late 2013 MCS has the physical wiring for the fogs running all the way to the dash. Anyone added rear fogs to their 2013? Or found they were missing the wiring?

Yes, if the bulb for your rear fog light burns out, you can change the bulb.

My June build 2013 MCS was completely wired (did NOT order it with the option). Once you install the toggle, and program it via NCS Expert you should be set to go.

I'd try calforhelp. He's in Glendale.

I know that's an older post. If you read the more recent posts in that thread, you will see he's still doing it as of 3/2014.

I finally got around to installing my toggle. I don't have heated seats so the cover is slightly different. The sides clips are the hardest to push in. The top three are easy. I used a plastic squeegee meant for smoothing out vinyl.

If someone in your household is artistic, where the rear fog icon should be., they can scrape the black paint off, in a design to let the light through.
I just removed paint to make a circle.

BTW, Who's going to code yours?

I will be out in San Fran for the start of MTTS and can do it there if you need. Just shoot me a message and we'll meet up.

Actually, I wanted to put a toggle in for now just for looks. Not sure if I'm going to code it in or not but if so I'll do it myself with NCS Expert.

Since I know which wires will get voltage, I'm trying to figure out if I can use it control something else, like a dual mode exhaust, front rally lights or something else. Anyone have ideas?

If I do end up just using it for the rear fogs (or other lights for that matter) then I'll buy the factory cover with the icon on it, I would just scratch it up if I tried to do it myself.

Thanks Way!! After months of waiting Way was nice enough to bring his box to San Francisco for the start of Mini Takes the States and hooked a few of us up. Well worth the wait!

Installed my switch, using the hook method to pull the cover.
Took all of 1 minute start to finish.

Besides calforhelp, any shops in the LA area do coding??

Update

Chris (calforhelp) just left after coding my rear fogs,
also one touch sunroof, and sunroof/window close with FOB.

Just confirming, that only a switch, and retrofit coding was needed on a 2013 MCS

THANK YOU CHRIS!!!

Do both rear fog lights light up, or just the drivers' side?

Thank you.

Check your bulb first by swapping sides.
