HID Conversion Kit for Countryman S?

Hi there,

Has anybody done the HID Conversion kit for the Countryman S? I got the regular halogens now since I bought the car off dealership and the car didn't come with factory xenon so now I gotta do it myself.

Has anybody done this yet? Is H13 with HI/Lo beams right for the car and any recommendations on the brand? Thanks in advance!

KC

Don't buy a drop-in kit and glare oncoming traffic is my recommendation...Do a retrofit or don't do it at all.

Wouldnt the drop in kit still have the "beam cutoff"? Therefore prevent the light from glaring oncoming vehicles?

There is no cutoff on the halogen reflectors. Putting in a HID bulb based to fit your halogens will have more light output but also more glare.

Hmm there is a straight cut off line on my stock halogens, if its not from the reflector, where is it coming from? The stock bulb themselves?

In my experience, the non-projector halogen systems use dual filaments, positioned so that the low beam can be behind a fixed shield in the housing that makes the light come only from the reflector (cut off pattern). Switching to the high beam turns on a filament that is not behind the shield so you get the direct illumination in addition to that coming from the reflector. I think that's what MINI is using on the CMs.

So if i get the HID kit that means i may be shining those white lights at oncoming vehicles without the cutoff?
