i found mine on ebay by typing in mini cooper led resistor. they were 6ohm 50w. they were larger than they look "around 2 inch long" and the hardest part of install is finding a place to mount them. i heard they can get hot, but i have not witnessed it yet. i also typed in 1156 30 led and found what you are looking for

Were you able to find 1156 rear ambers..if I follow the link..takes to a ended page and if I search that product..brings me to 1156 but with a SMD of 68 instead of 30.
Is that to bright ?

Thanks

yea i just double checked. on ebay i typed in 1156 30 led and there is a pair 1156 amber 30 5050 led's for 9.99 bid and another for 16.99 buy it now. make sure you get the 5050 led elements because they pack alot of brightness in a little area so you need less total leds

theta/countryman-s….
ok finally getting around to ordering the led's as you posted.
located: 2 pair for Rear brake Lights 1156 $31.98 total
" " 1 pair for Front Amber Signals 1157 $14.99
cannot locate/duplicate the Rear Amber signals 1156, Link is there but pg expired
If I try to duplicate the same bulb with the same 30 SMD can't find it, especially if I want to stay all with the same GP Thunders..there is 68 SMD in a 1156 ?
Also will I need resistors for all these ??

Well, when I saw the thread update, I thought I'd just be changing the link and being done with it, but you're quite correct! They're not selling this type anywhere on eBay anymore.

Anyway, I did a crapload of digging and found their actual website that still has all these, and here are the 1156:

http://www.hid-lights.com/cat/LED-1156.htm

You want the 7th one down (1156 Amber).

Again, I have nothing to do with these people, mods!

You will 100% need resistors for everything LED, unless of course you code the bulb checks out like a few of us do.

For some reason, I didn't see this the first time around (maybe I flaked on this thread) - but you're very welcome!

I'm just glad that I was able to find something that looked great for us and turned out to be really cheap. Did you do all of the bulbs (including the amber rear signal)?

Now that they've stopped selling some of these on eBay, I guess the site will have to do. Once Flyer gets his, I guess we can be confident that this is a solid option for everybody who wants to switch over to LED.

are you saying you did or did not find the 1156 amber led's for the rear? i just looked on ebay and there are several 1156 amber 30 smd led's listed. unless you have coded out your warnings for the lights you will need resistors for every bulb. im still thinking about doing the rear turn signals with the amber led bulbs, i just hate thinking about trying to add resistors back there. on ebay i typed in "1156 amber 30 smd led" and found plenty.

Wait, wait... before you confuse him:

The only 1156 Amber 30-5050s on eBay now are from Hong Kong. They're not the same as the rest of what he's using, and it sounds like he wants to keep everything the same.

Do I need 2 Pr of the rear red's 1156 SMD 30's, as you posted back a page or so. ?
Also no where near coding..so this will be a pita..with resistor's…Can you point me in the right direction…can they be all the same or do they differ with bulb.
Thanks again guys for all your help…and theta for all your crapload of digging

You guys need anything powder coated…send my way I'll take care of you

Yes, 2 pair of the 1156 reds. We have 2 brake lights... Well, technically a running light and a brake light, but you get the picture.

Two sets of 1156 red bulbs for those.
One set of 1156 amber for the turn signals (please note factory are red, so if you choose to get red, that's fine too - the amber look better but are a tad dimmer)

The resistors he listed for you being 6ohm 50w sound just fine. I used those on my wife's Equinox for the switchback LEDs with no problems.

The wiring back there isn't as bad as you think - you just need small hands.

Holy crap - no. That's insane. I can order them direct from the manufacturer for around a buck a piece.

Let me find you a reasonable place / price...

Alright, here's the lowdown:

That company on Amazon is nuts - they want almost $12 a pair plus $5 shipping on each pair.

I checked at Mouser, and the normal cermet ones are around $0.80. However, the Vishay heatsink ones are $3.58 a piece.

Then, I remembered where I ordered my wife's LEDs from, and noticed they had the correct ones for less than I can order from Mouser for. Check these out - that should save you quite a bit of money:

http://store.ijdmtoy.com/ProductDeta...or&click=12691

Safety note - DO NOT put these near the Mini insulation or wiring / plastic. Mount them on the metal body / frame in the rear tail area. These get HOT when the signals / lights / brakes are on - we're talking 170 degrees plus (as measured with an infrared thermometer).

Rather not use them, but haven't done any coding either. Pretty much caught up with what was needed as far as the WP recall, armrest issues, bulletin update and left overs from the vandalism. I would welcome whatever assistance is available. Are there shops in our area that offer that service?

I am unaware of any in our area. I did hear of a shop on the Maine coast that activated the rear fogs for a customer. That would have required a working knowledge of NCS Expert. PM me and we can discuss...
