Hello everyone, my wife really wants an automatic start for the CM, so I was wondering if anyone has had one installed, what brand, were there any complications, did you get one with an alarm or are you running the factory alarm system? We do not have the factory alarm system and not really sure if we want one at all, but with the cold winters and a soon to be 1 year old, and automatic start would be nice.

I called our Mini dealership and spoke to the service guy about the automatic start possibly voiding the warranty. He said anything that is linked to the auto start that fails will not be covered, so pretty much any electronics. He also said that the CM has a communications system so the auto start MAY but most likely will not make the electronic act "weird." Not sure what he meant buy that.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, or give me their input that would be awesome! Thanks!

 

Mini is coming out with one in the spring I think....It will have a remote or a app you can download to your phone to start the car. Not sure if it is installable or if it will only be available on "new" cars only. Check with your dealer.

 

Actually I asked my dealer again and its a electric heating system for the inside of the car. Enviromentally friendly. You still turn it on like I said with your phone or a remote but it don't start the car. I wonder how this will run down the battery.

Fortin has some interface that make remote start possible. I installed it in my 2013 MC and it works fine.
