The LEDs probably run on lower voltage than the OEM lights causing the something wrong indication.

You can either install and inline resistor to mimic the draw a incandescent bulb uses so that the computer thinks all is well, or you can buy Canbus LEDS which have built in resistors to do the same(retail for about $5 a piece).

I've been looking at these:

WeissLicht LED License Plate Illumination Upgrade

Wonder if they are worth the price premium?

I put them on my R55 about 3 weeks ago without issues. No bulb out warning. I also replaced my Driving lights with their bulbs. No issues til this day. Hope they last.

Same as the License plate lights.
As of today, they are both running without issues.

JMH,
Those LED's will not work on a 2011 MCS, or will they??? Part number for the bulbs I got that did work but through a cell is this LED-LP-F36MM-6B, bought off of e-Bay. My set up looks different then yours. My factory license plate lights look like they sit on top of a computer chip...

Hi, I just went with the 194/ 168 number I got. I own a 2011 Mini Clubman.
The License plate lights and the day lights are working.

From what I have experienced, many companies in China make the same product. Same item number. Most will trigger the error code. This one so far does not.

Hey Steve,

Those are the wedge type LED's that I picked up by accident. My R56 uses Festoon bulbs for the LP frames. I don't plan on changing the parking lights yet, but hopefully the wedges will fit.

WeissLicht LED

Walk0080,

Yes. IMHO, it is worth paying the premium price. The light assembly fits perfectly on my Clubbie. I had them for couple weeks now and so far, no "dash error."

The LED lights are very bright and no issues with lights flickering either. Here's couple photos:

I was driving a borrowed BMW 325i about for months ago, headed up Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek CA on the way to the freeway with a LEO riding my tail for a couple of miles. Just before the freeway he hits his lights and pulls me over. He asked me if I knew why I was being stopped and I seriously had no idea -- had been going the speed limit, didn't run any lights, etc. He told me the car had BLUE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS. I explained it was not my car, I had never stood behind the car in the dark with the lights on, and had no idea they were blue.

These are illegal in Cal, and if the LEO needs a reason to stop you, those blue license plate lights are a bright LED invitation!

Great thanks for the pic. I'll keep them on my list to buy later.

Do you find they have a bluish tint? They seem to be 6000K versus 5000K of the aznoptics.

I have a pair of PIAA Extreme White 168 bulbs I was going to use either in the City Lights or license plate.

So as these are 5000K, do you find they match well with the stock xenon lights?

I also have a pair of PIAA Extreme White 168/W5W bulbs that I already bought because so many people were having issues with LEDs in the City Light spot. Now I am thinking I will buy a pair of aznoptics and try them out. From the pics I have seen, the PIAA look slightly blue, maybe 6000K.

Have you tried the aznoptics in other locations of the car to see if bulb out errors occur? Like turn signals?
