Check Engine Light & Shift Relay Fuse

Starting last month every time we get into the rain in our '06 couple with CV transmission the 'check engine' light comes on as the shift-relay fuse has blown. The result is that the car shifts from the lowest possible range into the highest possible range at about 20mph and, as a result, essentially won't go up any hills. Any suggestions on where to look for a water leak that is shorting things in the wet? Thanks.
