Need help with Pulsar 3rd brake light flasher
Hi All,
So I installed the Pulsar in my 2 week old 2011 R56 today. Works great.
I ended up installing the unit about 3 inches from the light, trying to have it sit in the indentation between the bulges in the metal frame for the panel clips to sit in.
However it's not quite deep enough so the panel doesn't snap back all the way. It's about 95%.
Thinking about purchasing extra wire to relocate the unit about 8 inches further away from the light so it sits on the side of the hatch vs. the top in hopes there is enough extra space there.
1) Does anyone know if before I do this there is in fact enough depth there?
2) I always hear about how easy it is to mess up the bulb-out monitor. If I solder the wires back together where I insert the pulsar, and cut them again in a location about 8 inches away, will that introduce additional electrical resistance that may set off my warning lights or cause issues? The other option is to simple purchase some small gauge wire to solder in where the current cut is to allow me to reposition the unit without any additional cuts.
Thanks for you help!!

I would try calling the vendor where purchased first before soldering anything like that. These things have been on the market for a long time, and I see them in R56's every day.
Could be either that particular unit sent should have been made with longer wire(s) or you are trying to install it incorrectly.

If you have the gominigo pulsar, I may be able to save you a call. I have the module but have not yet installed it. I called gominigo for clarification as to where to place the module because some people on the forums said space was an issue. He said that he recommended placing it under the left side trim. I don't think it would change the resistance if you solder it, but it does mean we might have to solder extensions onto both the harness end and the light end of the cut wires to give us enough length to place it under the left hatch trim. I am thinking of soldering and heat shrink wrapping the joints.
I moved my GmG Pulsar light control, on my 2011 mcs, a couple of inches away from their recommended placement by adding/soldering wire onto the provided wires and shrink tubed the solder joint. It places the unit closer to the 3rd brake light where the recess is deeper. I also added a layer of Scotch Electrical tape to the components that touch the inside of the hatch frame. This system worked great for me.
I had GoMiniGo install one in my 2009 MC and they never could get the plastic trim to fit properly and I actually replaced the one they messed with because the clips were damaged.
