Gauge light wire

Hi,
I'm getting ready to install some gauges..after reading all the forums on this subject, I think i understand most everything...one quick question though..I'm reading to use the grey/red stripe wire going to the ESC button for the lights. Do i need to remove the center console to tap into this wire, or can i access it somewhere else?? Everything else looks pretty easy, if i have to remove the center console, that doesn't look like fun.....thanks.

I didn't have to completely remove the console when I tapped into the DSC wire. It was a few years ago, but I do remember that there are three screws (one in each cupholder) and then just pull the entire console up to pop it out of the bracket that's mounted to the floor. I could lift it up high enough without having to take off the boots or handles of the e-brake and shifter to gain access.

I also remember that the piece of the console in front of the cupholders is separate and allows for a little bit more maneuverability.

Center console removal is no problem! Just lift enough to get to those wires. The only fly in the ointment is if you have an armrest and that would also need to be removed.
