I am about to purchase used a pair of HID headlight housing and a HID kit.

I wonder this Philips Xenon kit does not give any bulb-out warning.

Has anyone tried this kit?

In its description, the ballast has Can-Bus resolving circuits inside and therefore no bulb-out warning.

Is it true?...This kit($270, but $170 at Ebay) is priciey than other cheap ones.

Personally, I hate to see bulb-out warning.....^^^

If it was, they wouldn't have a rating on WOT. This is just another cheap HID kit. I personally wouldn't recommend it.

 

Just to add some backing to the above, it is illegal for a manufacturer to sell HID lighting in the U.S. Someone like Philips, Osram and the like won't jeopardize their importation licenses to sell a $150 kit online. Most of the crud sold as kits are clones and knock-offs. Sometimes you get lucky as the parts are from replacement stock (more often than not, from stolen headlights though - especially from fleabay). Best you can hope for is to find a good reseller that backs their chinese clones and will replace them if/when they fry. So far, knock on wood, of the 8 kits I've installed over the years, none had issues.
