Hella FF200 driving light install questions

I salvaged my FF200 lights from my 02 before I traded the car in for a 2010. I didn't have a lot of time so I just pulled the lights and the clamp that was around the bar attached to the grill.

My question is what else will I need in order to mount it on my new car? I want them to come on with the high beams, I didn't like the extra switch I had in the 02. I assume I need a mount of some type, and a schematic that shows where I connect the two wires.

Thank you.

OK, I found the wiring harness here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=0&*Version*=1

Hella confirmed this is what I need.

Now all I need is a mount and the wiring diagram to connect them to the high beams

Wow, leave it to me to make it more difficult then it is. You don't have the part number for the mount do you? Also, what about the wiring?

Thanks a lot.

If you are just doing the two lights it is part number 415. I did not see the harness listed, but if you ask them they can tell you.

Its too late at night to write a big piece tonight, but I just finished this on my Justa. If you can wait till tomorrow, I'll walk you through it step by step.

I can even give you pictures of how to get the wiring through the firewall if you want, although to have them work like you describe, there is really no reason to go through the firewall with anything. Its really pretty simple, but its late and I'm old.

IN the morning I'll sit down and write a set of instructions for you.

Jim,

Did you use those brackets with the FF200 Hella's? VIP said they weren't sure they would fit.

No, I used the Hella 500's. They have a stud and nut that goes directly down from the botton and ift in the hole on the bracket. The FF 200 looks like it has the same odd mount that the OEM lights have. Here are what mine look like.

That is really odd. It says I have alread attached the picture to another thread and I can not post it again. That seems silly to me, but what can I say.

what cable triggers the relay?

Do your lights come on with the high beams?
If so, where are you taking the switch power from?

You need to run a seperate set of wires and relay for each set of two lights. Looking at the motor (standing in front of the car) on the right hand side, near the intake muffler there is a black box with a cover on it. Going into the box from the rear is a "red" cable which goes to a power point. Just remove the cover and attach to the same point. It is a lot closer then the battery.

thanks jbewley, but ...

I have sourced 12v for the lights (from the box you mention) but what I cannot find is a power source that activates with the high beams to trigger the relay. Have you found it? Does the high beam control your lights?

On the back of the driver's headlight remove the wire harness by squeezing the top and bottom clip together. Pop the back cover off the harness. For the non-xenon lights you want the yellow wire with a blue stripe. For xenon you will have to test to see which one it is. I hooked to this with a T-tap.

+1 on using the bue and yellow lead to the left front hedlight. But to clarify, you wan tot use that lead to power the relay only. The power fro the lights themselves must come from a direct battery level source. You are using the relay to turn on power to the lights. Do not attempt to connect the Hella lights directly to the blue and yellow lead -- you will upset the computer and you will not get full power to the lights.
