the red one goes the the red battery terminal, the balck one goes to a grounding strap.. and the switch lines need to be wired in and the switch turned on. make sure your tapping into an ignition-switched power source for the light switch.

Are you wanting to run them off of the high beams?

Sounds like a grounding issue. I installed the four light kit from Mini Mania and it came with two switches and two relays. One for each set of lights. The relays had a grounding wire that I grounded to a bolt under the hood. If I remember correctly there was also a ground for the switches that I grounded to a bolt under the dash/steering wheel. Of course this is all on top of the normal wiring to the + and - for the battery. Grounds can be a BEAR just take your time and check the entire wiring again paying attention to where your grounds are and you should be OK. Hope this Helps.

im assuming you've resolved the issue, but if not, would you mind snapping a picture and circling where you have the lights grounded. That would be a lot of help to us visual people.

Has anyone had any cooling problems after installing the 4 light bar on the lower grille?

I have 4 Hella 500's on Outmotoring driving light brackets on my lower grille (below picture) on my '05 MC. I have no cooling problems. Im not sure about how the alta light bar affects cooling though. Going with the outmotoring brackets is very wise, as they are easy to install, and you can adjust your lights to different heights.

No not that I can tell. I have 4 hella lights mounted low but not quite covering the lower grill.
My only problem is a convient place to mount the switches. At this time they are mounted on the back of the EuroParcel shelf. It's a stretch to reach them and usually just when you go for them the shoulder belt decides to tighten up and, well you know what happens then.

I'm thinking of the vipcustoms light mounts, with black magics paired. I've read from some that the single stack mounts are wobble and to go with the full 6 point bar that takes up to 4 lights. Any experienced users have an opinion here on that?

^ did you have to do any drilling into the bumper for the outmotoring brackets for any of those positions?

ussmale, i have my lights grounded to the hood grounding strap (driver side) and the engine grounding strap right next to the belt tensioner (passenger side). I don't see anything wrong with the grounding strap your using for the lights that are not working though. If its possible do a conductivity test on that grounding wire to make sure it doesn't have a break in it (unlikely) as well as check the in-line fuse. also make sure your +12v line has good conductivity (i hooked it straight into the remote battery terminal on the airbox) The led on the switch is powered by the remote +12v, and will turn on even if the main +12v for the lights is not connected. (thats why the led goes off when you turn off the car)
