Go into limp mode/rev limit on purpose?

Does anyone know if there is a way to activate limp mode or limit the revs on purpose? Preferably electronically from the cockpit.

My idea is to make it so if the driver seat belt isn't buckled the car will be forced into a rev limiting/limp mode. Serving as a reminder to the driver to put on their dam seat belt.

And something that would work for any new car would be great.

Figure out which trouble codes/conditions would result in the mode being activated and then replicate those parameter. I don't know about the seatbelt thing though, I'd hate to be forced to use the standard belts rather than a harness on a track car because of big brother.
Also, if you have an S model you could maybe devise a way with an electronic boost controller so that when in "valet" mode the wastegate stays open. No boost=less fun.

that would also be a great way to force yourself to obey the break-in period on a new MINI.

It would be like buying your performance on the installment plan.

I was thinking wiring into the seat belt sensor line, and the tach, and then somehow using a logic circuit to limit the throttle input (it is electronic)

Does anyone know of any electronic rev limiters out there? Something you just wire into the car and can be adjusted on the fly?

Sounds good for the children... don't wear your seatbelt, no power for you. I've seen too many kids wearing no seatbelts in the year I've been on this job. Sad, really.

I know that there are tachs with revlimiters that you can adjust with a dial on its face. I believe Mallory makes one but I don't think that it will work with the ignition in these cars. With these cars everything is integtated through a computer. It is not like you can just switch a circuit on to make it go into limp mode either. Like has been said you have to recreate a situation that will trigger limp mode. Maybe put a switch in line to some of the sensors (like O2) so the computer thinks that it is not working properly and possibly trigger it. The only problem that I see with that is it will throw a code that will have to be cleared.
