Front parking lights

has anyone replaced the front parking lamps (the ones above the fog light)? I would like a whiter light that will look better with the Xenon headlight.
Thanks,

Boston R56S: I like the Xenon color. I ran an ebay search for "w5w led" and got tons of different bulbs. What type or number am I looking for?

something like this would work... i think this is actually better than the one i have because it has 7leds... so it'll be much brighter... only thing is you'll have to connect a resistor in line with it so that you can get rid of the 'bulb out' warning because of the low power draw from the leds..

Thanks Boston R5S. Watching your posts on various threads amazes me. You are knowlegeable, helpful and straightforward.

Now I need to ask what resistor value would I purchase and where and what wire do I solder it in-line? If the value of the resistor might need to be different than the one you installed because of the number of LEDs, I rather go with the exact bulb you have working in your car. If not, then 7 LEDs is better (more) than ?. Too bad these bulbs are from Austrialia.

When in-line installing the resistor, can I cover the joints and resistor with shrink tubing to insulate it?

So, if ChubbyChecker makes his clear lenses, I get these new LED's installed in the parking lights, all I'll have to do is find a way to "whiten up" the front fogs. Any ideas?

50 ohm 10watt +/- 10% will work based on the calculations i made for my LED ( cant reproduce it at the moment but i have the resisstor on hand... just haven't installed it yet ). it'll be okay with 1 or 7 LEDs- reason is they draw so little power anyways that it does not make much of a difference. If you try it, you'll notice that you don't get a light out warning if you use one LED and one regular bulb... so as long as its drawing the power of one bulb normally (halogen) it'll be fine.

As I said I haven't installed them, but I've tried it (connecting in line in parallel (not series) to the positive line will be okay. I'm actually thinking about getting the 7leds now that i see those, i didnt see those originally... because- when i use them for lighting a pathway at night, the one LED does not do too much [just as the halogen doesnt either], but 7 LEDs may produce a much better result.

You can cover the resistor with shrink tubing, but be careful because it will get as hot as a normal halgoen light bulb will. So keep it away from plastics and such from melting.. if you can, then i'd prob avoid shrink wrapping the actual resistor.

Any of those w5w wedge bulbs you find on ebay will work, btw.

And, I just ordered the xenon look 6000k fog lights, H8 size, they are sending them here now... so I'll let you know how those go once I install them.
Just make sure they are 35w if you are buying those too. Hoen makes them... they are xenon match bulbs is what they call em, but for like 30 or 40$, which is expensive for bulbs to me. The cheapo ones i got were 10$ shipped- granted they wont last as long probably... but I want to go HID in the fogs at some point anyways...

Hope that helps!

Yes, thank you BostonR56S.... but being electrically challenged and scared to screw it up I'm going to order the bulbs and wait. I hope will help one more time and post some pictures of exactly where you tap into your wires and where you place the resistors.

I'd also love to hear about how the cheap foglight bulbs work out and where you ordered them.

Again, thanks for helping me spruce up the front end lighting look.

i havent installed the resistors, and probably wont until its warm out, i've just been living with the bulb out warning (it only shows up for 2 seconds when you start the car, thats all). if you have an inspection coming up, just take the two minutes to switch them back.. but when i put in the resistor i'll let oyu know. you need to tap them into the positive line that goes to the bulb - you'll see and understand when you take out the bulb, the wire is attached to it.

nice! yea, i'm in the same boat- i installed my xenon look fogs @ 6000k, but they are still a bit less white-blue than the xenons (tho much better than the yellowish original halogen ones) Im' going to do hids soon, maybe 3000k for a bright yellow. my LEDs are like white-blue though, so i'll have to see what color combo i want to go for.

In another thread I see you bought a bunch of Hoen bulbs. Could you post pics and impressions of the colors?

Thanks.

Those still look a lot better than stock. Any link or more detail to the bulbs you're using?

Need help with "un-installing" the Parking/Roadside Bulb and Fog Lamp!! I purchased PIAA Xtreme White Bulbs for all 3 lights/both sides of course. I've already replaced the Headlight Bulbs...piece of cake!! This morning I'm trying to un-install the Parking/Roadside Bulb on the Driver's side, wheel is turned out not in as recommended, definitely get more room, I know the best option is to take wheel off, I'm just not equipped to do that. Manual says to "unscrew" the bulb but I get a bit of resistance and don't want to damage anything, wires seem to have a pretty short reach anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

TIA
