D2S bulb replacement

Hello All!

I had one of my headlights replaced due to a parking lot accident - apparently the tailgate of the new Toyota Tacoma is so high that you cannot see the roof of a Mini when backing up. Anyway, all the repairs were covered by the other driver's insurance so I got a new hood/headlight out of the deal.

The problem is that the headlights are now slightly different colors due to the age of the HID bulbs/capsules. The older they get, the bluer they get so there is a difference of maybe 200-300k in color temperature. It's not really noticeable on the road but more so when you look at the projectors.

So I bought a set of 6000k capsules on ebay. The problem is that on the original headlight, the bulb is easily replaced but on the new one, it appears that the bulb and ballast are 100% integrated with no possibility of replacing the bulb by itself. The new headlight is an OEM unit and I have verified that MINI has indeed superceded the original design. Does anyone have any tips on this topic?
