07 auto up windows

Does anyone have a fix/addon to provide "auto up" option for 2007 Minis? Looks like there is a fix for 06 and earlier, and 2008 gets it from the factory. Anything for the 2007's?

Also interested in this?

Is there any chance the boot release could be used instead of opening the boot to activate the auto wind up function you get from holding the drivers side physical key in the lock position? i mean i am happy to unlock the car and use the button/latch on the boot lid?

(err boot is another word for trunk btw).

What is the '06 fix? Is it just a software flash, or is there hardware involved?

If you know anything more on this please let us know. I would be interested in this also since this is the first time I've heard of it.

This was the site for the 1st gen models.

http://www.mcaw.info/

As you can see they aren't being made anymore.

Acutally, you may want to get a hold of GBMINI.
http://www.gbmini.net/wp/auto-up_windows/
I thought he had made some more. I installed one in my wifes '05 cabrio, makes me wish my '07 had the same function.

As Minidrivr said they are only for the 1st gen cars.

I know this is about auto up windows, but the non-auto back sunroof also drives me crazy. Its a sunroof, if you push the button it should open all the way with 1 touch. I mean who opens the sunroof 2 inches instead of all the way?

OK, I just took my car in for service and they gave me an 07 328i and it has auto up windows and auto open and close sun roof. So why the hell isn't this in the MINI? Also they updated my software and auto up was not included with it. So looks like whatever is in the 08 software is not being included with software updates.

I want auto up windows on my 07 MINI! Especially considering the terrible location of the switches it's impossible to put your windows up while pulling away from a stop. I have to swipe my card at the gate to my apartment every day and it is a total pain. Does anyone know if there is a window motor regulator or controller that's different from the '07 to '08 models? If so perhaps it could be retrofitted.... If it's a software difference I don't think we will be so luck.

Auto up

I am wondering if you purchase a 08 module and replace it with an 07, will that enable the Auto up windows?

I'm planning on following up on this as soon as I get some additional reference materials! I still have not become used to holding the up switch, it's like stepping back in time...

I just came back from the dealer to get my annual oil change... and tried to get them to add "auto up" to my car. They said it couldnt be done.

That makes no sense to me at all. The only way that it cant be done in software is if they changed the switches or added a current limiting circuit device. Even so, they would need to have that anyway for pinch detection... and it would use the same circuit for auto down.

mine is 9/07 with the updated cruise control and tire monitoring. I still think they are passing off lies. If ANYONE can actually back this please chime in.

I just hate being lied to when ive had 3 BMWs... all of which have had updates in their life and added features.

This may or may not help you out.

The power windows are controlled by the foot well module. In your 09/2007 car should be a P/N 61.35.3.450.979. This module was also used in the following BMW cars.

E70/E71/E82/E88/E90/E91/E92/E93.

Many of these cars if not all had "Auto Up Windows" IF that is the case then the module will handle it.

As for the motors that drive the window. In your car the driver side should be a 67.62.2.755.853. These were only used up until 12/2007 after that they changed to a 67.62.2.757.043. Unfortunately neither of these are used in BMW models.

I am not sure if the window motor is the problem or not but if it is it may just take replacing the window motor.

Passenger side motor latest is 67.62.2.757.044

All the auto-up module does is sit between the switch panel and the body computer/controller, and make contact, as if you were holding the window switch, for 6 seconds.

Now as to whether the switch panel and connectors are the same, that's not known to me, but the window motors and relay gear aren't involved - all that's needed is a circuit that closes the switch to tell the body computer to switch the motor on...

So, if you purchase the new version of the footwell control module (see Realoem.com) then the windows should be auto-up as well as down?

No, Ian's circuit simply inserted itself into the path from switches to body computer, exactly as if you pressed and held the window switch for 6 seconds. No mods to any other parts.

As far as i know Ian's circuit will not work on the 07 and 08 versions of the car.

As for the 08, the foot well module is what controls the up and down movement, including the auto up/down feature. And as i have stated is also used in other BMW models with this feature.

YES, it does stink ... I rented an '08 MCa in San Francisco last week and was also surprised to discover that the '08 windows can auto-up (unlike my '07 MCSm) ... gonna whine politely to my dealer tomorrow and see if there's a recent software fix --

OFFICIAL: 2007 R56 windows shall not auto-up from the factory

Just talked to my (relatively-trusted) dealer service-rep.
Officially: the 2008 and newer R56s have a new sensor in the doors (my thought: maybe part of that newer motor-assembly) that allows auto-up to operate safely, without the prospect of strangling a kid or dog whose head is sticking out aforementioned window ... the new sensor is smart enough to reverse the auto-up in an emergency.
2007 R56s do not have this improved sensor.

Crud.
