Battery Charger During Storage

We will leave our MC for about 3-4 months during the summer, stored in an air conditioned garage in the CA desert. Looking to get a battery charger to either leave connected while away or to use to charge the battery if we decide to disconnect the negative terminal. First, any recommendations about which is better to do - maintenance charge with a good three stage automatic charger or disconnect. Second, I can't tell if the battery is a sealed acid or sealed gel battery and I want to get a charger that is specific for the type of battery. The manual is silent on this point and the battery doesn't state either. Any info or thoughts would be welcome.

Battery Tender brand are the best for this. I use a couple on my motorcycles.

I use the Jr model on my bikes. It's also enough for a car battery. The Plus model puts out 18w. For maintenance charging during storage, the Jr would work just fine (9w).

The battery is the standard semi sealed battery that comes with all cars . A good brand "small current" charger with "trickle charge" is all you want.

I've used a Battery Tender on my M-Roadster to store it during the winter for the past 6 years. It works great. The car starts right up every spring. The car is a '00 and has the original battery.

Battery Charger

Thanks to all who responded with the useful information. Went on the Deltran Battery Tender website and found the perfect model that will work with a lead acid or gel battery. Found also that you can get it from Amazon for a slight savings so mine is on order.

You will love the battery tender.
If you store your car it's the way to go.

The Battery Tenders are fantastic little charger/maintainers. Vector (also available branded as Black and Decker) makes a small 1/2 amp charger-maitainer as wwell, I have both of these and they work well, neither overcharges the battery when constanly connected.

For those of you who park their cars outside or on a carport (as I often do), a small solar panel maintainer works well. I used one while my car was mothballed over winter.
