Airbag warning light...

The collision center replaced the driver & passenger front airbags on Saturday & the airbag warning light stays on, so they replaced the airbag module. Unfortunately, the airbag light still remains on. Is there a "reset code" that needs to be done?

Help!

The airbag warning light is the only "major" repair remaining for Schultze...the new windshield is scheduled to be installed this morning, followed by a trip to a service garage for proper bleeding of the brakes, tranny flush, a/c recharge & wheel alignment. After all is completed, Schultze will be released from the "hospital".

Thanks!

airbag light

First of all if the collision center you are dealing with is not farmillar with your cars safety system you should request that the system be repaired by the dealer or an authorized airbag professional. With that being said, after a full front deployment the following items should be replaced: both front airbags, clockspring, upper dash pad, both front impact sensors, both seatbelt buckle pretensioners, the pyrotechnic positive battery cable and any seatbelt being worn during the impact. The control module can be reset up to three times and does not need to be replaced.

If the shop replaced the control module then the dealer will have to program it because they are blank from the factory when new.

Good luck

Just a thought...but if you turn the car on with NO airbag installed, the light will stay on. Maybe they did this? I'm not sure how to reset this, but I'm pretty sure you have to disconnect the airbag to do it.

One of the biggest scams in the auto repair business is collision centers replacing airbags with shoes and other junk so they can collect the money....and they disable the system...

hooking it up to the enginuity enhanced tool or the bmw code tool will clear the codes and tell you what is at fault. a qualified bmw certified shop or the BMW/mini dealer can do it.

Good Luck with the alignment, the hardest part to get repaired correctly after any collision. there are all sorts of connected parts which might have suffered undetected warping.
