R56 Horn replacement

It's about time we talk about replacing the horns and making a statement. Please show me how you've improved on the Mini sound.

Yea, I was surprised the first time I hit my horn. It was the loudest horn I've had on any of my cars. I love it as it is, but will be waiting to hear of anything else.

If you do this, make sure you cut out rain guard below horns. They're not nearly as loud as air horns on our other cars because they fire directly into a sealed box of underguard.

Could anyone point me to where, physically, the horns are located on the 2nd generation MINIs. I had installed a small air-horn in both of my Gen-1's and would like to do the same on my new Coupe. Just loking to find the standard horns so as to be able to find the wiring.

As shown where the air horns are in the pic above, the horns are inside the passenger side wheel well.

They are BOTH on the passenger side? (I found ONE on the passenger side (without taking off the bumper), now I'm looking for the second one).

Thanks...

P.S. If anyone has pictures (of the OEM horns in their factory locations), that would be great.

OK...well I found the second one...right near the 1st...yeesh. What thru me off was an image I found of an R53 with the horns on opposite sides of the car.

Instead of taking the bumper off, I reached up behind the bumper (see pics...I'm laying on the ground looking up and forward with my head right beside the right front tire...yes, part of my wheel well liner is gone from some road debris I hit a couple years ago...that said I think I could have bent it out of the way if it was undamaged)..and thru there was able to remove the wires. I left the old (broken/silent) horns in place (as I'm assuming the bumper HAS to come off to remove them?)...and just wire tied the new horns so they don't flop around.

I bought these Hella 012010881 horns...they are plug and play, sound good, and are cheap:
