Anyone retrofit power folding side mirrors?

As I find myself more and more the chauffeur for my wife and kid in the city, power folding side view mirrors would be nice, especially in this cold. Anyone retrofit them?

I'm looking to do the same, but I think there's more than just swapping the mirrors out for the folding version. Looks like there's also a module that needs to be added as well.

I got them on my 08 Clubman S - they were part of one of the packages I purchased. Never thought I'd use them but have found several times, in narrow parking spaces, they do reduce the possibility of people walking by "bumping" the mirrors. Plus, it's really cool to unfold them as you drive out of the parking lot! (you must be below 20mph, I think in order for them to fold/unfold)

Don't have them on my '05 MCS and want to retro fit them. Think it would be neat in some tight situations to tuck mirrors in while driving in between cars. I believe you can do this while driving? On a scale from 1-10, how difficult would it be to do this?

newministuff has them for the 1st Gen and I think the 2nd Gen as well. This is a pretty cool option/upgrade, not cheap though.

Thanks. Anything imported is going to cost more, but considering the options, I'll take the Mini. Any problems ordering parts from the Uk?

I did the mod (1st gen) - DIY is here.

No problems getting the parts from Mike. The exchange rate is a lot better than when I did it, too!

As mentioned, it's not cheap, but I LOVE them.

They're great for my very narrow garage
I've used them:
-to eek by a parking garage pole
-as an alternative to adjusting down for bright lights
-for more aerodynamic cruising
-when scooting by traffic to turn left
-to impress girls

Nice, I saw that. Already saved it into my bookmarks for future reference. The only thing I want to try is perhaps using the missing toggle switch reserved for the rear fog and use for the mirrors.

That would be a GREAT use of the toggle, though it would take some doing. Ian Cull might be able to ginny up a circuit that could trigger relays to actuate the mirrors.

So did any one do it on a second generation R56?

Is it possible to do by getting the required parts? Lets say I found a mini on a junk yard that had power fold mirrors will I be able to install it on my R56 which has the cold weather package without the folding mirrors

Me too...

I have the power folding mirrors and have to activate them manually every time I drive into the garage. It would be great to have an auto folding capability.

Bump for interest....

I'm looking to do a retrofit of the powerfolding mirrors...So far, here's what I think needs to be obtained.

1. New Mirrors (Motorized fold in ones)
2. Outside mirror fold in module (with required screws and mounting plate)
3. New mirror control **** (Different for fold in mirrors)

Not sure if I got everything...Has anyone done the retrofit?

There is also the wiring harness that may or may not be installed in the car.

If not installed in the car then that would mean a change of a major wiring harness.

Hi, I would like to retrofit power folding mirrors on my 2008 Mini Cooper.
Anyone knows where is located power folding module?
Have I to replace mine (for non-power folding mirrors) with the new one?
Thank you!

I was going to do the retrofit, but sold my JCW. I still have the parts to do the retrofit. Message me and I'll send them to you for what I paid for the parts.
