I have installed the Gominigo pulsar, even though it is smaill, it is a little harder to install in the "white" with red led brake light.

I have another product I ordered at the same time as the gominigo pulsar. It WILL work with LED or incandesant lights.(for your foresters) and you can program the flashes It's called lightstrobe. Works great on Motorcycles also.

I am willing to sell it(never installed) for $20.00 with shipping included.

I got my 6 pulse from GMG and I'm very happy with both! Dave and Meg really did a fantastic job in squaring my order away (APO shipping) and sent out quickly. As for the lights, well, there are two type of Netherlands driver (Holland for you Colonials): the one in front driving 20-30 Kmh below the speed limit and the one behind trying to get into your boot (trunk)!! This light really does a fine job of keeping these Nederlanderers at bay! When they see this thing kick off, they just don't know what to expect next: laser beams, oil slick or machine guns!!! Enjoy!

Cheers!!

I just love these baseless grenade throwers!

Pulsar

Maybe 911Fan was referring to this kind of pulsar...

I like it, but it's not as obnoxious as I was hoping it would be. On my R56S it's partially hidden by the spoiler. I had a couple people follow me and say they didn't really notice it.

Back when I had my Mini, I installed a 3rd brake light flasher. I don't remember where I got it, but it was contained in a black plastic cylinder. It worked great. But, it did not fit in the brake light housing. There was a thread discussing that and showing how one member added a longer wire, to mount the unit elsewhere. I have since experienced 2 other flashers. One is from brakelightflashers.com. I had bought this because it claimed 36 programmable modes of operation and works on both LED and conventional bulbs. I do NOT recommend this unit. First, you have to finish building it. It comes with a miniature square circuit board and 4 wires. You have to solder these wires onto the board. This is not the easiest thing to do by yourself because the board has components on both sides. Thus, (1) it does not lay flat and (2) it wobbles. The solder points are very small and very close to chips which could be ruined by the heat of a soldering iron. Once assembling it, there are other issues: The circuit board in not protected in any way from either the elements or shock. Since it is often mounted on the hatch, it will be subject to shock and, probably, weather. It's only a matter of time before something gives out. Additionally, the way it is programmed is absurd. One of the wires, both ends of which were soldered to the board in a loop, in the previously described exercise. That wire is not cut in half and the ends stripped. To get to the desired program one shorts and then separates the ends of the wires. Each time that is done, it advances to the next program. Besides being stupid to begin with, there's a problem here: In order to decide on the program you want, you really need to see it in action. This, of course, leads to 2 other problems: First, you have 37 modes to cycle through and then however many more to reach the desired mode (I picked mode 17). Second, the wires you are shorting and separating are located in the hatch's innards, whereas the brake light is on the outside of the hatch. Unless you are part Gumby and part gorilla, there's no way you can both manipulate the wires and see the light. Genius. BTW, incase you are wonder why there are so many modes, it's because you can select fast, medium or slow flash rate, 4 or 5 delay lenghts (how long the brakes are off before the flash sequence begins again), and 3 different choices for how many seconds the light falshes for. On the positive side, the unit is cheap: $16.

A much better choice, in my opinion, is the one from comagination. They describe it as being "about the size of a miniature Reeses Peanut Butter Cup." An odd comparitor, in my opinion. But, in any case, it fits easily in the space occupied by the 3rd brake light. It is a fully assembled weatherproof unit. It's an apoxy encased disk with 3 wires sticking out of it. It takes about 1/2 hour to install, including accessing the light assembly, if you go really slow. It also works on both LEDs and conventional bulbs.

I installed the third brakelight pulsar and if I install another in the future, I will use a hair dryer to soften the seal before removing the light. That reduces the chance of separating the red lense from the mount.

Technically, flashing brake lights are illegal under DOT regulations.

That said, I have one myself, and like it - it does seem to wake up the tailgating morons.

However, there are also high-quality studies that indicate that the flashing causes SLOWER reaction time for the following driver, apparently because it is not what other drivers expect, and anything different causes slower-than-trained-reflex time to react.

Make your own decision, but it is not simple and obvious that this is an improvement...

You are correct flashing brake lights are illegal, but this is for the brake lights (left and right sides) and it is the brake lights flashing all the time. The third brake is the exception to the rule if it does not flash all the time. This is the reason for them to go solid. The pulsing feature is the same that has been used on motorcycles for years. I have friends that work for the State Patrol and they even have them on there cars.

This is the one I got on eBay...Rearalert.
I did not have to remove the CHMSL from the hatch on my '04. The module fit into the hole where the conduit tube is attached inside the hatch. I checked the wire colors with the Haynes manual before cutting and splicing. About 15 minutes start to finish.

Hmmm the first few links are dead.

I checked my local laws and selected the option available from Minspeed, to be in compliance. Combined with the 4th brake light rear fog mod I generate a little extra breathing room and certainly hope I'm grabbing the attention of everyone behind me when I'm on the brakes.

+1 - Got mine from Pete back in July. Great Mod, easy install in my R53, and it works awesome. I can tell by the way the cars travelling behind me have a tendency to back off quicker than before.......

And since I was badly rear-ended some years back, it makes me feel better having it........

+2 had mine nearly 2 years now and noticed the tailgators reactions.

FWIW will fail the UK MOT test if fitted, just disconnect mine come MOT time.

I've been using the Pulsar a couple of years as well. Works great. Between that and the rear fogs, I can get most tailgaters to back off.

When I had my Mini, I definitely noticed that the pulser kept people further back. I suspect that they think the pulse occurs because they have been dedected as being too close, rather than a simple function of applying the brakes. They are, therefore, in their minds, not as anonymous and back off. On the other hand, they may just view it as the car's way of giving them the finger. In any case, it definitely works.

I added both the GoMiniGo rear pulser AND the rear-fogs-to-brakelights mods ... I give EVERYONE extra chances to see me, and I have not regretted it. Too many close calls with tailgaters and Lexus MegaDumpster morons-with-cellphones have left me thinking "this must be what motorcyclists go through" --

PS: if you have an R56 MCS and didn't ever order rear-fogs, the GoMiniGo/Minispeed "R56BLK Full Light Kit" for $75 is a bargain -- includes the red tail lights that cost almost that much at the dealers
