Phone Prep Pinouts???

I have a 2007 MCS with the bluetooth/phoneprep -- no NAV ... I'm trying to find out what the pinouts are for the phone cradle in the arm rest ... my cell phones are LG's (VX8700 if it matters to anyone) and of course BMW/MINI doesn't sell a cradle for those phones ... I can get bluetooth pairing to work fine with the phones but I would like to use the socket in the armrest where the cradle would normally attach to get power for charging the phone ... obviously I don't want to short something out so was hoping someone somewhere might know of a reliable source for the pinouts on that socket.

See if this helps.

I am also working on another solution to use an external charger in my armrest. I'll take some pictures once I get it finished.

Pics would be great!

Hi CC ...

I saw that post but am too ignorant to be able to actually read the diagram and be able to relate it to the physical socket in the car ... I will need a little more elementary approach ... like "...buy this socket ##### and wire these pins .... to this connector ##### that plugs into the phone ... "

If you get one to work I 'd be REAL interested in the details.

So I just posted what I did for my phone here, https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...53#post1966153.

I'm not sure about the charger on your LG, but I saw on ebay they had angled versions, might work.

Thanks ....

certainly one solution that avoids the hazard of not getting the armrest socket screwed up or causing a short!
