I have a '03 MC and I noticed that the range shown on the computer is way off. With half a tank left it read 480 miles to empty. After filling up later it read 580 miles to empty, way to high.
The other items- outside temp, fuel mpg, speed looked good.
Anyone else have this problem and how was it fixed? Thanks.

 

try resetting the avg mpg. Thats where the range comes from.

 

I had already tried that to no avail.

 

jjp, I have the same issue with mine. I just returned from a 1500 mile round trip and watched the mpg and range numbers very closely. Both of them were optomistic compared to actual. My mpg was showing 32 and 33 when I actually got 29.5 and the range would show that I could go lots more miles until it got down to the last 1/8 or 1/16 of a tank then the range would drop like a rock - like drop 5 miles for each 1 mile driven. I just chalked it up to the computer being there for entertainment and I put my faith in the actual gauge. Maybe it's a function of the way the gas tank sensor is set up rather than the computer being off?
