The Holy Cross Parade and Festival is a fun, small-town event held in conjunction with Holy Cross Days. The festival activities on Saturday, August 9th include the parade, a charity auction, a street dance with a live band, bouncy houses for the kids, a barbecue, and more. The heart of the festival is right across the street from the home of EIM stalwarts 05MINI (a.k.a., Linda and Tom R.).

The parade will stage on Saturday, August 9th starting at ~10:30 am for an approximate noon start. Prior to that time, there will be a car wash spot set up in the driveway (956 Main Street) and/or the neighbor's driveway. If the street in front of the house as you come into town from the south is closed, just drive around the block and you'll get there. After wash-up we'll spiffy up our MINIs with some decorations prior to the parade.

As in past years, L & T have graciously invited us all into their home after the parade for a great feast, beverages, and fellowship. They supply virtually endless drinks and the most delectable and now famous broasted chicken from the local bar & grill. Any side dish or snack to share is always welcomed but not at all required or expected. It's always great fun to relax on the porch after the parade, enjoy the superb food, drink, and MINI talk, and watch (or participate in) all of the festival activities happening right out on the street in front.

Parade preregistration is not necessary -- but I'm betting our gracious hosts would love to know how many our coming, so if you would please hit the calendar link or post a reply here so we know to expect you.

Other things you may want to bring along with you:
-- Candy to toss to the kids during the parade
-- GMRS/FRS radios (for friendly banter during the parade)
-- Personal car wash supplies
-- Any leftover parade decorations you might still have from last year

Remember, no matter which point of the compass you choose to approach Holy Cross, there are roads enroute that are among the most scenic and twisty in the state. Consider getting creative and have a blast just getting there. )

Hey Gary, according to your first post, there a festival parade on Aug 9th and also says we stage up for the parade on Aug. 10th, are we doing two parade's ?

 

Everything is Saturday August 9th. One parade is enough for one weekend in Holy Cross

I will have to miss this event as well. Looks like I am working almost every Saturday until retirement (I have taken off for the Keeweenaw Mountain Rendezvous, however).

This working thing has really cramped my MINI style

 

Linda, any particular desires for side dishes?

 

I think that since I feel the need to make a big first impression. I'm going to bring a batch of chili.

 

Whatever anyone wants to bring will be great! And don't anyone worry if you don't have the time or ambition to bring something. We will have beverages, broasted chicken and some sides. My sides will either be home made or store bought depending on how my schedule goes next week. I'm pretty sure no one will go hungry or thirsty! We will just be happy to see everyone and show off the fabulous MINIs.

 

Do we know who has the leftover bling from last year's Swamp Fox? Steve perhaps? Maybe he can hand it off to Larry and Pam.

I plan on bringing along crock of baked beans.

 

Baked Beans, Chili, and BBQ.......Sounds gassy.

 

What time should we start to show up?


And I Don't think I will be bringing Chili. In order to do it right I'd have to start making it at midnight.

 

Check the link to the Event Calendar Entry in the first post. All the times you need to know are there. We're moving to the staging area at 10:30 am so just plan for whatever extra advance time you need to prep your car to the level you want. Some are more meticulous than others.

 

Any time after 10:00. We will line up around 11:15 -11:30.
