Yep, looks like we could hit a few showers early in the trip on Thursday (which wouldn't be such a bad thing -- keep the bugs washed off) but once we get into SD...
Touch wood that this forecast materializes!
Getting psyched...
...and hoping for an eighth floor room.

Reason: update forecast
So, I want to meet up with you guys west of Sioux Falls. Would someone be willing to call us when the group gets to about Valley Springs or Brandon?
I'll be happy to do so. Just PM me with your cell phone number and I'll make sure we close the loop.
Given everyone's enthusiasm it wouldn't surprise me if we're running a bit early into Blue Earth and actually make it to Valley Springs by 1:00 pm or so.

We promise to all wait for any MINI in our caravan who might be too enthusiastic and draw the attention of law enforcement, however.
I updated the forecast in Post #27. Still good. Cool, but warmer than it was two years ago (I remember the water freezing on my MINI at the Hill City car wash on Friday morning... ).
I'm also predicting that the showers will be over prior to reaching the Badlands. You heard it here first.
Seems like a good time to share some checklist ideas:
- Charge up those camera batteries
- Find your GMRS/FRS radios (bring your spare if you have one) and charge them up or swap out the batteries (Sandy, I'm bringing plenty this time! )
- Grab any leftover local maps from R4TH #1
- Sunglasses
- Glass cleaner and wipes for de-bugging the windscreen
- Cell phones
- Quarters for the coin-op car wash (if you're into that kind of thing)
Gearing up for the trip to the Black Hills. The Cedar Rapids MINIs will leave at 7:30 am on Thursday, May 12. Join us at Casey’s General Store, which is just off I380 at the Boyson Exit, Exit 25. Hopefully, we can hook up with other MINIs at McDonalds at 350 Evansdale Dr. in Elk Run Heights, IA, Exit 68, just before Waterloo. We’ll leave McDonalds at 8:30 and arrive at the Blue Earth stop at 11:30 to join more MINIs! If you want to PM me, we can exchange phone numbers. Gary probably has the master phone list, but we might need to be in touch before we meet up with him.
See you in two weeks.
Yippeeee!
Where is Boyson? I cant find it on the map? What's the address for the Casey's?
Well since I just got out of the hospital it looks like a no go for me this time round...
Stupid appendix.. :-/
Yes, the timing is terrible! I too, will eat a bowl of cowboy chili in your honor. We'll all raise a toast in your honor, too. If we go by "your" cabin, we'll honk.
