EIM Warm Weather Babble

Patience grasshopper...has Gil ever led you [seriously] astray?
I was doing a little search on MINIs for sale within 100mi of my address.
(not looking to purchase)
I came across a dealership FinishLine Ford that had a plethora of used MINIs for sale. I figured with all those MINIs do they service them? So, I sent an e-mail and yes they service all cars they sell. An oil/filter change with synthetic oil & multi-point inspection is $85.
They are located in Peoria, IL.
Has anybody used this place?
Nevermind. I looked up reviews on this place and 98% were bad. See for yourself. I won't take my MINI there. Too bad I thought that was a good price.

I'm glad some find them useful. I think it help keeps lines of communication open too. Doesn't seem like work though...guess it's a labor of (MINI) love.

I would have commented sooner but the ambulance attendant that re-started my heart after I read this wouldn't bring me my laptop.
Here is an article from Winding Road about the Countryman.

I promise to try and be a better caretaker (maybe even as early as this afternoon)...
If any EIM members are coming to Des Moines this week end check out the car show at West Glen - nice old British Cars and old and new Mini's

This might be something to consider as one of our pre-scheduled EIM events for next year. Even though we can't enter the show (20 years old or older to be eligible) it would be fun to caravan, park as a group, and check out the classics.
I imagine our buddy Dave W. will be well represented.

It can now take its rightful position between Leo and Gozer without shame. I think I'll even sleep better tonight.
I've been looking for that "Clay-Bar" stuff. Does Wal-Mart carry it? If so, is it under a different name brand. Mind you I'm looking for something that has "Clay-Bar" in the title.
Does anyone care to join Gil and myself on the 19th to scope out some roads for the 7/25/10 MINI run? PM us if interested.

Good luck shopping!
That's our buddy Roger (aka, EddyM here on NAM) who hails from the Des Moines vicinity. Let me tell you, that guy covers some serious miles in his nicely modded MINI. I know he's already been out to New England this year, and I would not be surprised to see him among the MTTS and MITM crowd.
I don't know if any of you have been following the "MINI Challenges Porche" videos but this latest one is pretty funny!

Ha! Humorous and enough self-depreciating that it can't help but be a win for MINI USA.
Now I see (from another NAM thread) you can actually order T-shirts modeled after the ones worn by Jim McDowell in the clip where he issues his initial challenge to Detlev Von Platen over at Porsche:

I might just have to invest the $21.
Could end up being a collector's item.
