MTTS I am signed up and purchased my tickets already anyone else and do we want to try and coordinate as a group for hotel rooms and the like?
Here's an updated version (attached v2) of the Eastern Iowa MINIs 2008 Activity Planning sheet for your reference and planning. I'll continue to update this as information emerges and plans gel.
Early June looks a bit thin right now...I'm thinking that a Saturday meet in Tiffin for ice cream might be just the ticket...

Okay, here's a new update (attached v3) of the Eastern Iowa MINIs 2008 Activity Planning sheet!
Please note the addition of the EIM "Meet and S-cream" in Tiffin on June 14th and our group's special invite to the 13th Annual Clarence Lincoln Highway Festival Car Cruise and Show on Saturday evening, June 28th. More food and fun!
Mark those calendars! See you there, and keep on motoring.

Great Place for a Meet
We were at Tuscan Moon last weekend in Kalona, IA. They have a wonderful outside patio and great food. The owner would love to have the Mini club there at 11:00 on a Saturday. He is also a lover of cars. The drive from Kalona to Riverside has several Barn Quilts and it is a beautiful drive this time of year.
Daryl, this seems like a great addition to the Fall MINI Drive, though I'm wondering what the odds are of being able to enjoy the outdoor patio in mid-October...
If you take the drive to Riverside, you can also consider the merits of the Riverside Road that runs from Riverside to Washington (my old home town). There are 13 curves on that stretch marked at 25-45 mph (Sfax and I counted them during a recent recon
). Of course, the Riverside casino is always an option too.

Good points, Gary! Also, those nice folks who own that car wash near the casino might offer us a good deal on getting the dust off our MINIs. I think we should try to do the "Moon" while we can use the patio.
NEW update (attached v5) of the Eastern Iowa MINIs 2008 Activity Planning calendar, for your viewing and scheduling pleasure.

Thinking ahead to '09
While poking around in some other forums I took note of the Nebraska Group's Black Hills drive in May. That sounds super fun. Are any of our Iowa MINIs considering that? Also, the Chicago MINIs have a downtown drive and midnight breakfast which sounds super fun, too! Gary, Brian, and Rob, you need to schedule a planning lunch so we can get all the fun MINI stuff on the calendar!

I also heard quite a bit of interest yesterday in the 2009 MINI Meet "East Meets West" event to be held in Winona, MN (in late June, I think), and personally I wouldn't mind going back out to MITM in August (5th - 9th) either. I also think the 2009 Grand Am Koni Challenge Race at the Iowa Speedway would be a fun group event, particularly if the MINI race team shows up and we can get our hands on free pit passes and VIP extras from the MINI team (though the 2009 schedule is not out yet and this past year it conflicted with MITM). We'll probably want to consider the Swamp Fox Festival again (though it will be hard to top this past one) and we'll want to try and synergize with your 7th Annual IA Fall Tour if we can. Plus, we need at least a couple of good, relatively local drives to accommodate folks who can't easily take off to SD or CO for several days straight.
Maybe we can attract another good CR-IC crowd like Rob did at Auto Toyz for a wintertime Meet and Eat in your area where we can map out schedule priorities for 2009 and get potential new participants excited. Or better yet, maybe a core group of us should get together and develop a draft 2009 EIM schedule (fewer "cooks") and then use the Meet and Eat to publicize it and rally participation.
Thoughts anyone?

I think a planning meeting is in order however last time we had a winter meet we were supposed to do some planning alas we never did so maybe keeping it a smaller group for planning and then have a larger group for MINI related fun and eating?
Just an idea
Just an idea
I agree. Let's give Rob time for his schedule to normalize; then he, you, and I should plan on meeting over a meal somewhere to lay out a 2009 EIM sched. I love to have Daryl there too if possible so we can synergize with the Yahoo! folk.
