I have a 2007 MINI Cooper S. I had a problem with an ECU that was rebuilt. I bought one from a junkyard, and it is from the same year and model as mine. The part number is the same as my ECU and I have the key for it. Does the new ECU have to be programmed, or is it just "plug and Play"

 

You would probably have more luck getting an answer if you posted on a forum dedicated to the R56. The people who read this forum are primarily focused on the electric version of the F56, the MINI Cooper SE. I haven't read any SE-owner posts about a failed ECU, which would be completely different from the ECU in any other MINI Cooper.
