chipping

i am a newb if someone can give a rundown on the chipping available for the minis.
i see a GIAC, UNICHIP.

my previous vehicle i did all my own tuning, i was able to change all of the engine parameters, and i logged WB02.
Is there anything like that available?

thanks in advance.

First, welcome to NAM.

Second, like most forums, it's best if you try searching for info yourself before starting a new thread on a topic that may have already been thoroughly discussed. There's no sense having someone else do the work for you.

You mention GIAC and UNIchip...add MTH to your list.

There's also LDG, Fireball Flash, Evo....

As to tuning your own, the closest available thing I think is the Apexi AFCII for tuning A/F ratios...

thats why i asked for a quick rundown, i did do a search and i just come up with 50 pages of threads. But i figured someone could really quickly point me in the right direction. i.e. like GIAC is crap, look into MTH.
In the time you told me to search you could have anserwed my question.
No point in re-inventing the wheel, right?

If you're getting that many results, try being more specific in your search. Did you search thread titles or posts? I know for a fact that there is a thread that compares/discusses MTH vs GIAC. I found it very helpful. Besides including comments about the benefits of these two ecu flashes, the tread discusses the limitations of each and why some people eventually go a different route.

Before you go down the path of engine tuning, you need to first figure out what mods you plan on doing and how much money you are willing to spend. You also need to decide if you want/need a custom tune or a "one size fits all" deal. These details are also helpful to the people that you are asking advice from.

LDG Tuning

Here's one of my base flashes on a stock S w/15% pulley.
The one below is slightly more modified.

Are you ever going to share with us what those "slight" modifications are?

Maybe you can just quote what it will cost us if we make an appointment with the goal of having a slight modification done?

Do you have the base dyno numbers before the ECU flash?

LDG, Do you offer flashing from remote locations or does one have to take their car to you?

LDG has a thread over in the vendor's area you can get some info from. I believe he only does in house or you can overnight your ECU to him. Word is he can get a couple of extra horses from dyno tuning at his facilities, but the base tune with the 15% is still plenty good.

This is just from info posted, I don't have his tune. (but I plan to get it soon)

Thanks for the info. I'm considering chip tuning for after summer or maybe wheels. I was thinking of doing either the LDG or Fireballed! tune. Both seem to be winners...
