Wait for engine break-in before mod's?

I only have 300 miles on my '07 Cabrio S. I'd like to install Alta CAI and Magnaflow cat-back. Do I need to wait until the break-in period (1250 miles) is over? Didn't know if there's an issue with the ECU.

One of the most often-expressed comments regarding mods is, "Why didn't I do this sooner?!?" Adding mods won't affect any plans you have to follow whatever break-in procedure you subscribe to, except possibly wishing you could rev it up some more.

I'd think it would be fine. I would wait until break in to install that pulley you need.

i dont think he will ever be installing a pully, just a feeling, lol. But no, a CAI and catback wont affect break in, just remember to keep the revs down, like latte said.

I guess you didn't realize that an 07 Cabrio has the same engine as my 06 MCS. Supercharged?? Oh yes.

Thanks for the replies. And by the way, there's definitely a new pulley in my future! Just trying to fly under the radar of the cash flow police!

Installing these parts before the break-in is over won't hurt anything.....BUT.....how are you going to appreciate the improvments that they have made in performance if you have yet to experience full throttle to redline on a bone stock setup? Thats why I waited (I guess the cash flow thing might have had something to do with that also...)

the sad part is i clarified the spelling on that while i was typing it, and still managed to get it wrong. I could use the excuse that it was an unfortunate typo when i really knew what i was doing, but iwould be lying to you...and myself :( hahaha. I think that is the one word i never get right, oh, and diner and dinner, but i think i do have that one undercontrol, after a decade or so of constanly reversing them. hahah

And i will never understand why car companies must do that to us. I also have a 1940 ford, and back then, for only ran a model for 2 year, (save the 1932 model year, and the 1940 deluxe). For example, there was the 1938 std and dlx, the dlx became the 39 std, and a new dlx came out, the dlx became the 40 std, and a modified dlx (40 was also the first year std and dlx parts were interchangable.) then in 41 a whole new car for both lines. Do you have any idea how hard it is for people unfamiliar with the cars to even tell them apart? extremely, i cought on quickly tho, for a change...
