230.2 WHP w/JCW tune

230.2 WHP-dyno03.27.07.jpg
Took a drive to AutoWave in Huntington Beach for a base dyno run.
This is the shop where Jan aka: 'el diablo' aka: 'HWSNBN'. does his testing.
The conditions were absolutely perfect!
Weather: Mid 50s, cool, damp and overcast.
Note: Huntington Beach is at or near sea level.
We let the motor cool down completely after my 2 hour commute.

We did 3 pulls and she got stronger with each run.
This was the final pull.

Just the JCW tune? Did you have any numbers from before the head? Running a SC pulley I assume?

Congrats!

Thanks and yes, just a stock JCW tune.
We started with a full JCW package.
The pulley is stock JCW with a 3% crank pulley = 17% net reduction.

Car pulled 188whp before the head was installed and 218whp right after install under less than optimal conditions, ie: at elevation, hot motor, mimimum run-in time, lower cut-off (6800rpm).

It looks like it's a little bit above 175 ft-lbs. I wonder what HWSNBN could do if he was going for more torque...

Peak torque was 180 ft/lbs @ 6200 rpm
What I am more impressed with is it made 177 ft/lbs @ 4200rpm
...and stayed there pretty much to cut-off

This was a baseline run.
Let's just say that this excersize is called "Project 300".

Nothing wrong with 180, or even 177... I'm on the right coast at sea level as well... last run on the dyno I made 165 tq with my mods... 172 on a very cold day.

Looking forward to hear more and more on this head.

Congrats!

So from your sig, are you modding your JCW? If so it sounds like it's no longer a JCW!

My wife and I have his & hers JCW's
We got her's first but when she wouldn't let me play with it I had to go out and get one for my self. We've left hers alone except for all the bling.
I've been modding mine for SCCA SM class since day 1.

Thanks,
I'm still trying to figure out 180ft/lbs of torque and 230hp and the intersection of all those curves I thought they met somewhere?
Maybe I should stick with the basics. How to post a pic on the net
Great car by the way. Very curious to see what EL D puts on the market
Regards

The reason the HP/TQ lines do not intersect at 5250 is that different scales are used on either side of the graph.

Bingo!
Now comes the fun part of bringing my little blumini to the next level of development. We've got some great ideas and we are all very motivated to achieve the goal without sacrificing reliablity or drivability.

I've got two questions I'm curious about:
From your "spec sheet" it looks like you own lighter wheels and tires than the stock. Where these used on the rolling road?
Concerning the JCW software and my experience with it via MTH, how did you alter the built in torque limiter to achieve such robust numbers?

Car was wearing 17x8 Motegi Racing Trak Lite 2.0 wheels
They weigh 14 lbs each.

To my knowledge, no modifications have been made to the JCW software.
Attached is an up-to-date spec sheet.

Hey Don,

Do you have any "spec sheets" for your "no hype" 200,230,265, and 275 BHP kits? Or are these numbers based off the butt dyno done on the track?

Great starting point blue. Getting to the next level shouldn't be that hard.

Those are great numbers . You sure picked the perfect day to dyno.
