I have the Alta CAI and I love it for the most part. I personally like the sucking sounds, but it all comes down to preference. At WOT the S/C whine is awesome! The only thing that is a little annoying is the whistling at slight tip in (most prevalent on highway). Definately a noticeable difference in power, but the 8-10 hp gain (or something like that) claimed by Alta may be a bit much. A little pricier but def the way to go if you don't mind the noise.

 

I'm a fan of the Craven Speed CAI. It's a nice sealed box that draws from the cowl and is easy to get into for filter cleaning. Plus the smoked cover lets me see when the filter needs to be cleaned. Not the least expensive unit on the market but I think one of the best constucted.

I had a K&N Typhoon for the same reasons mentioned, this was my first mod. But I too come to realize that this is not a real CAI.

So I switched to the Webb/DDM HDI and powder coated it black. With the black Alta hose it looks really trick and doesn't "Bling" I am very pleased with it! -- Johan

 

ok so far it's between the DDM and the Alta. Does anyone have a youtube sound clip of any of these CAI in action??

I think that would answer a whole lot of questions.

Why not have a vendor shoot out with intakes and then someone can type up the results and post them.
