Need help! Power Loss!

So my car is a 2004 JCW with 55,000 miles and saturday i noticed a big problem. I was getting on the freeyway when all the sudden my car went into limp mode and loss power and started to sputter. Since then I have figured out that the car only does it when i reach 12 pounds of Boost and it doesnt matter speed or RPM. as long as i stay under 12 pounds of boost the car seems fine. Then in the afternoon the car seemed fine again no problems at all, full power with full boost. Then again on my way to work this morning it started doing it again... Looking for any suggestions?

Possibilitys i think it could be:

1- bad gas
2- bad bypass valve?
3- maybe fuel pump?

And i am not throwing a check engine light, at least not yet!

looking for any idea's Thanks NAM community!

Take it to an Autozone, etc., and get the codes pulled....or buy a code reader...about $100. Then go from there.

If it's a vacuum leak....

that would effect idle. The fact that it's happening with high boost leads me to belive it isn't a vacuum problem per se, but something like an IC boot that opens under boost, and is sucked down under vacuum.

And the BP valve is always a possibility too. You can wiretie it shut and see if the problem still happens. IF so, then it's not the valve...

The code reader is key on any modern car. Without it, we're all grabbing at straws!

Sounds like what happened to my '06 when the Bypass valve cashed it in. Get it scheduled for warranty repair.

Wire tying it shut will tell you for sure. But it sure sounds like it to me.

Could you please tell me a little more in detail what your car was doing? I was half thinking that it might be the bypass valve, could it open while under boost?

Thank you for all the help everyone!

So I put in Redline Fuel System Cleaner and topped the tank off with Chevron gas it still doing it. Last night I checked for Vacum leaks, spark plugs were tight, everything looked normal. And I did look at the Boost Gauge when the car started to stumble and there didnt appear to be a loss in boost so I dont think its the BPV. Any other suggestions??

The car never did throw any codes. But last night I figured it out!! The coil pack was going bad! Pulled the Screamn Demon Pack out and out the stock back in and the car is alive again, It idles better, its more responsive, Seems much faster now so the old coil pack must have been going bad for some time now!! Anyway just wanted to let everyone know what is was!! Thanks for all the input!
