Stage 2 Head, need some input on,,

Confirming the difference in their size compared to the stock. I just got my stage 2 head at the shop and after looking at the valves and their size, they didn't seem that much different than what the stock would be. At least that's how it appeared to me.

I'm no mechanic and have just recently seen a stock vavle but never next to a stage 2 larger valves. Am I missing something or not seeing the difference through naked eyes?

I have not had a chance to place the two next to each othere to actualy see the size difference and won't be able to go to back to the shop untill this coming Monday or Tuesday the earliest and can't get this out of my mind now that it's the weekend. Is the difference in valve size from stage 2 to stock that minimal that you can't tell the difference just by looking at them?

Does anyone have a picture of the 2 by any chance next to each other to show? Or better yet have their size measurements and the difference?

In most cases the "larger valves" are only 1-2mm bigger....

I went with Mini Mania's one since it was the only one they had left with an unbelievable price. The head came with a shrick copy larger cam for a price of $1,785.00 plus the gasket package my total came to $2,085.

I honestly considered few other vendors such as DMH and Fireballed people but had to stay within my budget and that price could not have been matched. I have purchased several items from Mini Mania and they tend to have good quality products and I felt safe enough to go with them. I'm sure there are few here that might have chosen othere alternatives (perhaps better quality made so to speak) however I felt that this would make more sense to me along with other upgrades I'm going to do later to enhance the things I have done so far.

Thank you again everyone for all your input. I honestly feel blessed being part of this group of the Mini world.

Thank you both again, that realy helps me. I guess in a sense you can't tell the difference between the 2 when you 1st look at them. Barring in mind that one is merely and only 1 mm larger if that.

no prob! Its really hard to tell the differnce in 1mm if you haven't handled a bunch before. Even then.... its tough

Try this in SAE.. the 1mm is .0394 inch.. calibrate your eyeball cause .039 almost has to be compared to the smaller valve to see such a small differance!!
Intake valve is 1.189 dia + 1mm ( .0394) = 1.228 inch!
Exhaust is .915 dia + 1mm = .954 inch!!

Tiny valves huh?? but there are 4 of them and the Velocity rocks!! Unless you are a track car.. there could be issues with low end street driving when your off boost with the "Huge" valves.. but you will be fine.

Just me....................................

Brother, you are about to feel a whole new world in your MINI.

I am obviously partial to thumper's heads, but bolt any aftermarket head on, and you are going to see the MINI through a whole new tailpipe!
