OBX vs Megan Headers

OBX vs Megan headers...which one makes more power or better power throughout the rpm range, has anyone tried both?

I love the photo of the Megan! The "cat" bung is before the cat!. Of course, it's not actually a cat, but a resonator, which suckks. Still, it's amazing that a promotional/marketing photo would show the pipe reversed. You'll get some funky SES lights and codes if you put the post-cat sensor in front of the cat!

cheers,

Interested in answers,too.
What I would really like to see would be a 4-2-1 design like the OBX but with a Flex joint like the Megan. Anything like that available?
Thanks!
Jim

i purchased an OBX, i will have a flex joint welded in it, if i don't go with a cat at all...will i get an engine light?
if so i may very well have the stock cat welded onto it...so it's bung behind the cat, right?

Although its weird, the flex joint on the OBX serves it's purpose just fine.

Yes you will get an engine light with no cat. If you don't want a cat, and don't want a check engine light, get an O2 Simulator...will fool the car into thinking there is a cat. Works flawlessly!

I second that, the OBX joint works as well as any flex joint with less restriction.
In fact I think it’s less prone to failure than a flex joint, you just have to let the springs do what they were designed to do. SuperSprint thinks so too.

Where would you get one of these?

And does anybody know how many cells are in an oem cat?

If the O2 sensors are hooked up properly you won't get a light.

i thought they just screw in?

Florida, no emmissions yet...and yes it does smell a little rich when you're idleing for a while, well my other cars did anyway...
I wonder what the true HP gains are without the cat...3-4hp?

where does one get the O2 simulator?

They do, just don't reverse the order.

You shouldn't need 1 with the Megan w/resonator.

i bought the OBX not the Megan.
liked the 4-2-1 design of the OBX better.

the resonator that Megan shows in the pic isn't included with the header, they sell it with a straight pipe instead...never was too crazy about those resonators as they all pretty much sound like them rice-a-roni fart can cars.

I like Alta's 2.5" one sided exhaust, big mufflers and nice sound, not sure how the header will change all that, if too loud, i might just weld in the stock cat.

Save your stock stuff and add a 2.5" magnaflow CAT about $65.00 or less to your OBX rig. Its not too much trouble if you make it slip fit with flanges you can easily replace it and allows some latitude for fitting. Think about having you OBX ceramic coated. I think one of the guys’s from Texas on here works at a place that does coating at a reasonable price. Do a search on OBX, you will find an enormous thread on it.

You will use the sensors that are on the car. You will get the header with the hardware & re use the original equipment sensors.
This is not a problem.

If the Megan just comes with a resonator, he WILL get a SES light. A resonator is not a cat and therefore the post-cat sensor will recognize that and trigger a light.

well, rather than fumble with the check engine light, i might simply weld the stock cat to the obx header...What kind of power will i lose from adding the cat?
And if i decided to go the other route (no cat) where do i get the O2 simulator?

If you do decide to go with a cat...don't put your stock one back on! Go with a 400-cel high flow cat. That is your best option cat-wise. You can pick one up for around $65. I think you can get an O2 sim from http://www.o2sensorsimulator.com or a variant.
