I can help you out here.

I bought the Alta shorty antenna. I found it too short and after some introspection, I figured I should have probably known this from the product description and picture.

It doesn't come with any installation instructions. After three hours of attempting to install it without any success, I called Alta for help. They never returned my calls. Finally my 5 year old son pointed out that not only do I have to take the old antenna off first, but the end with the hole faces down.

All was well until one day I attempted to use it as a jackhammer bit and it cracked. I called Jeff and Adam about it because I feel this is a design flaw. Nowhere in the instructions did it mention that I should not use the antenna in this manner. I felt proctologically abused.........

Jeff told me I was an idiot and Adam offered to send me a replacement jackhammer bit. I told him I wanted a replacement antenna and he laughed at me and kicked sand in my face - all of this happened over the phone.

All in all, it was the best summer vacation I ever had and both Jerry and Pierre learned many valuable lessons about true love and the versatility of dental floss.

The End.

you guys act like machines are a sure thing or something...they're mechanical, anything can and sometimes does go wrong, get over it...noone in this world can guarrantee you success when they have no control over who installs the kit.

Turbos rarely go bad, once in a while they do...no big deal, get another and move on, nobody has a crystal ball that can tell you which turbo will fail and when. A vendor has no control over this, be humane about it, explain what happened and swap the bad one for a good one...new turbos come with a guarrantee so the only problem i see is the PITA of waiting for one and the extra labor involved, something that should be expected when you tackle a turbo kit install.

As for the broken weld, many things can cause it, typically it happens due to a lean condition, i've seen it a hundred times...i've also seen cheap OBX manifolds last 75,000 miles on high HP Supras that are tuned properly...sure welds can be a cause, the pictured welds look pretty decent though, i'd have to see if they go all the way through to be sure but they crack more often from a bad tune than from a bad weld.

The design of this particular mani wouldn't be my choice but...i suppose cost dictates what you ultimatelly get. The GT 3071 garrett is about as bad *** a turbo as you can get, early spool and capable of 400+ hp.

Finally, i for one, would not venture into a turbo kit swap if my knowledge of turbos is that of a novice. The wideband should be the first thing to install when doing any serious boosting.

There are few guys here pushing the limits of these motors, making 250-275whp is peanuts, not much can go wrong at that small a number...start looking at big power out of that little motor and you can expect some issues to be sorted....like having the right injectors, fuel pump, fuel rail, vibration dampers, billet oil pump gears etc. Push 350-400whp and you'll start busting oil pumps left and right, you'll have issues you never thought of before.

275whp on this car is not peanuts... if you are Twin charged you must have pistons. Pistons is not what i would consder peanuts.

so far i don't believe anyone has busted and oil pump on the MINI even the fireball crew... sincerely... correct me if i am wrong

Hey Mario,

Do you think that a shorty antenna counts as mods?

not the alta ones... they will crack... and a huge thread will be started and two idiots will hijack the thread and talk about something completely off topic...

back on topic... LOL...

but if the bearings were made by M7 then yes, there chrom reverse muffler bearings will work with the improved blinker fluid. They were actually developed together. DMH even put on his lab coat and tested it... but it didn't work for him... so likely it will work for you. Webb said he could see it from his airplane though... so go with whoevers more popular in your book.

You are mocking the sacred NAM tradition of screaming about hijacking whilst hijacking. Make sense out of that one...........

What this thread needs is more fighting, badmouthing, he said/she said and vendor bashing. Your attempts at humor and irony are not appreciated here. Pick a side, Eastside or Alta, and get busy......

LOL!!!!!

Well i haven't installed a sensor in eastside or alta so i don't know what to say... other than i would to dyno each company... Picture this, one guy from each company running on a dyno roller to see who makes more hp! LOL!

but then again... those dyno results be contested over and over in regards to the scientific procdedure that took place and someone will wave the BS flag... DMH will chime in and say they should have been put on an engine dyno instead of a chassis dyno... then we will have to ship that dyno to the west coast for evaluation... its really quite a lengthy process to get to the bottom of this...

True dat. It doesn't take Alfred Einstein to understand that the manifold cracked right where the weld is all spoogered.

How about we just line your car up and his car?

Or if you would like to argue about the dyno results call Dyno comp yourself and stop baggin on everyone! They will bore you to death on how accurate there dyno is. You can get there number off of there website www.dynocomp.com good luck and let us know how your conversation go's. If you can ask for rich...

to tell you the truth...i hate dyno comp and rich... but they didn't build the car... they are just the only dyno in north scottsdale

I like how you dodge the challenge. I never said my car was faster only that I doubt that car can make 200hp like you claim. I will offer again to pay for the gas and the dyno and I will throw another $200 on top if it does. If it doesn't you will pay all expenses and pay me $100. What better way to take $200 of my money and shut me up in the process.

YOu obviously don't know what you are talking about... i don't own the car... if i did... you would be paying me. That is a car that i have had a hand in building. I am not dodging any challenge what so ever.

As far as asking you to line them up... its because i am challenging your experiance in tunning MINIs. Not small block chevys, not supras, not anything else...

about 200whp has been done several times without heads and without cams...
tell you what... because it isn't me or my car... i can't say i will come out and meet you... but i will pay for your gas and give you a hundred bucks if the car doesn't make 200whp here... again... its not my car... i only put the pulley on and told him to get the OBX header... thats about it.

hell if you want to bring your car out here and put your car on the dyno i will pay for that too!

call dynocomp... talk to them about there process for dynoing cars... im sure you will be satisfied. they are a complete third party... they have had nothing to do with the build of this car

Why do you think mynumbers are off?! I can show you every single one of my dyno charts since I've had the car. Its not like this last run was some whacked out run. All that matters to me is that I love how my car is performing and my numbers just back it up for me that it's running as strong as I thought. I could care less if people like you or anyone else doesn't believe it. Who gives a ____?!?!

Oh and btw...I live in SoCal most of the year, so I'd be glad for a paid dyno run. Plus I could use $200.
