Drivetrain Could I install?
Could I install?
I was just wondering if I bought an alta air intake system if I could install it myself in my garage. I have basic tools. I have very little experience with cars. If not or if so what other mod's could be easily installed by me at my own garage?
It's very doable, but being that you have little experience it will probably take 2+ hours. There is also a good how to thread you can reference. Just make sure you have all the tools you need. MINI's have a lot of torx fittings.
I was just like you. The ALTA intake was my very first mod. EVER.
I had never done anything under the hood of any car, other than check the oil and add wiper fluid.
This install was pretty easy. I took my sweet time, (I try to follow the "measure twice, cut once" method with my car installs), and it took me 2 hours.
I know many fellow NAMers will probably laugh at that, but again, I was being overly cautious, since it was my first mod.
I recommend searching for some how-to's on this subject. They're definitely out there. After all, the ALTA intake is arguably the most popular aftermarket intake of NAMers...
I say GO FOR IT!
Good luck.

Yea, you can do it yourself it's one of the easier mods to do.

HI, my name is KJ, and I just signed up. I just got an 06 MCS 26K miles. Yesterday I exprienced this burning smell. Something like maybe the brakes or something. I did not drive with the brakes on however. What might my problem be?
you will have better luck getting an answer to this question in the stock problems/issues section. unless, you are implying that you noticed this smell after installing a cai...in which case, i have no idea what that would be. good luck.
and to the op...yes you can!
