In the interest of equal time I do expect you to say the same thing the next 900 times an M7 leghumper posts. The good thing for you is that'll only take about 2 days.

I've got no love for either. Had my issues with both, though at least one does pick up the phone when I call.

(just to go a little further off topic from the M7 intake....)

I'm just glad that tuners are still focusing on a part that they already sell and doesnt promise much more horsepower instead of coming out with new parts such as wider arches, harness bars, quality bodykits, stronger suspension components, turbo-only systems, or MC engine mods, etc....

yay for intakes that gain 8hp and the new intakes that make 10 hp if it's the **super new gadget intake** that cost quite a bit more

It's only going to get worse, when they totally abandon product development for MkI MINIs, in favor of the '07's and newer.

MkII MINI's will be stealing the spot light for future product development...

Obehave and Camelpilot you do not see me asking to share profits or nonsense like that. I did not patent the idea, because back in 2003 nobody was doing that. It was a kinder gentler world.

How my "prototype" looked has no value in the argument. It was a prototype to prove a concept. I have done a lot of work on it since then. It had a real shot at becoming a product from a vendor.

However, please remember that I did show this thing in person to Randy. I did offer him to work with me on it. Show me somebody else who has been working on this since 2003 and talk to Randy about it and we can then have an argument. Otherwise, they are only comments. Thanks for the comments.

Bomboasy

PS. I think the world of Randy. He is a great guy and I respect him then and now.

NOW, back to the topic: I like the new M7 box. I have the perfect mod for it and it works with other things that M7 makes. I hope you like it when I post it, after I talk with Peter.

As far as M7 goes you could not be more off the mark . We will work with the new car but in no way shape or form give up on the SC version. Personally I am much more into superchargers so there will be no slowing down in that area.

LIke I said. We, Tony and I, discussed the "alta" design long before Alta "invented" it.
And believe me Alta folks were involved in the discussion as well as ProMINI and at the time jlm, macncheese, Andy@, Eric et al were involved.

All I'm saying is we didn't pursue it to manufacturing and neither did you.

Heck the button head bolts on the HDI/DDM intake were my idea so the kit fit under the M7 bar. I got a nod from Randy about it and I'm happy. We got nothing from Alta. Oh well. Life's tough.

Me personally I can really only blame myself. I made no legal assertions and discussed the ideas in a public forum. There you go.

I'm not banging on you man, seriously. I'm with you. But before you said anything here did you talk to Randy?

Sorry but I had to make sure you knew I wasn't picking.

camelpilot, bless his little heart, is a bit fanatical. I'm not in that boat.

I know bomboasy has been working on IC diverters and the like for a --long--time--I have emails to back up his claim. I haven't talked with him lately, nor has he made any comment on my FAD. What I like about this section of NAM is that it's populated with people who act on thoughts, as well as speculate on them in theory and based on experience. All sources can contribute to the advancement of the bleeding edge so to speak.
Since I got my temperature probes, my life has gotten *worse* rather than better--I have an obsessive personality to begin with, and now I'm obsessed with measuring differences in things that affect the IATs on my car. You know I always ask for data, but actually I don't know if that's enough any more, since the variance in my observations has been so great that I doubt that even a statistical analysis could adequately control for, and explain, the observed variance in the temps I am observing. Of course, as a physical system, it's deterministic except for the measurement error...

cheers,

Yea but it's fun though isn't it?

And yes, bomboasy has been at this a long time.

cheers,
I have been observing the same thing for a long time... nothing is repeatable everything is squirrly..... "now it's doing what"..... "whoa, what happened?" are familiar sayings to me..... I have finally accepted that this is a strange little car we drive and even stranger are the different results everyone gets observing similar phenomenom

If that were true, then why would all the other existing tuner communities (VW GTI, Suby, musclecar, etc...) not have abandoned development for previous versions of the cars they build for? If there's money to be made and enthusiasts with interest, someone's going to tap the market. Also, why would existing MINI tuners abandon their current bread and butter market, thereby alienating their existing customers (and possible future R56 owners)?

With all the existing 1st Gen new MINI's running around (and going out of warranty) there's going to be plenty of development for a long time to come.

Thats a crap load more than what anyone has ever done, including you. And to be frank with you, if Randy's final version looked anything like yours, he'll be lucky to sell more than 1.
Real mature turning that into a personal attack. I thought the point of this community was to share info & encouragement. Most of what I've seen you do here is spread vitriol. Ease up, brother. It's not that hard to disagree politely.

(no offense intended.... just truth)
Nice copout, but it doesn't exactly ring true. What gives you a corner on the truth, anyway? Your version of the truth sure looks alot like your opinion or perspective.
