Replacing IC - Should I do anything else?

Just wondering what if anything I should plan on doing while replacing my IC. I'm at about 50k. The new one will cover the plugs, so I may just swap those out. Anything else I should replace or clean while I'm in there?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Maybe install the Ram Intake? I take it you're installing either an Alta TMIC or GRS...

I just took mine off to do the VGS mod....it's not that hard to do if you need to take it off again.

It's actually a GP unit. I'm an OEM kind of guy...

What's the Ram Intake, a modified hood scoop?

Oh, I see. That is quite sweet. I have the JCW CF scoop, but would consider replacing it. Does your design hook up with the stock "diverter" on the underside of the hood, or have it's own? (I ask becasuse the GP unit comes with a matched IC cover and diverter.)

It would take a bit of explaining but if you have the time, please go through the link that I sent you...everything is explained in there

have you guys ever thought about the cowl scoops and moding those so they scoop air into them or would that be a waste?

There are already a few ongoing threads regarding these ideas...

Got it, thanks. Sounds like some minor tweaking of the stock diverter is all that would be required. But $200 for a raw FG piece seems very steep to me.

Inspite of the price...the performance benifits are more than worth it for me...

I created the product...that didn't happen out of thin air If I charged my usual rate, I'd have enough Ram Intakes to make soup...old Chinese saying...

Here are some photos on point to this discussion of what I just installed today, thanks to Dr. Phil, who supplied both the parts and the know-how. I was in the right place at the right time when the good doctor decided to dispose of his former M7 CF Ram Intake and the related Alta diverter (that he also further customized). Also, notice that the M7 strut brace and M7 CF air diverter are also installed as well. Unfortunately, I found the hard way that the M7 CF air diverter will develop scars from the bonnet's front screw placements along the lip, so I have applied two small clear rubber bumpers (the type sold in framing shops to be used on the back side of picture frames) to avoid further damage. My advice to anyone purchasing this nice addition be alert and determine a means of addressing prevention of this condition; there may be better ways than what I have tried and I would love to see a discussion of successful solutions.

It is the standard MCS intercooler, not a GP. Why, did it look like one with the Alta diverter on it?

OK; I see that now and I guess it helps to go back through all of the thread when something doesn't quite make sense.

got a question about your car; are the small braces just above the 'eyes' only on the convertibles? I've never seen those before (short braces just below the strut towers).

Not sure; I have not looked under too many hoods to notice the difference. I am sure someone here though knows.

the cabrios have some extra bracing - those by the eyes are two of the extra braces.

Pretty sure there is more bracing that you can not see in the rocker panels and the A pillars.

My attorney has advised me not to answer this question.

Well, my bad; I misspoke about the cause of the scars on my M7 CF Air Diverter. I have now determined that the scars came from the screws that hold the brackets for my driving lamps, so if you have the driving lamps braced to your grille (like the ones sold by Mini) and you get the M7 CF Air Diverter, be alert to the location of these 4 screws (2 on each driving lamp bracket) when the hood is closed and they come in contact with the diverter. Rather than placing rubber bumpers directly on the diverter, a better answer may be placing adhesive-backed rubber cushioning to the 4 screw heads. Again, anyone else noticing this issue should offer their own takes on possible fixes.
