If you're not satisfied, another option would be the foam ITG filter. I did some reading on the company, and they put out a quality product. I believe you can get it from myminiparts.com

Edit - I also used it in my JCW intake, and I liked it better than the stock filter. A little more sound, no more power, and you can clean/oil it instead of changing.

I also have the ITG filter in my JCW box (flap removed). More SC whine, and you can hear a nice "squish" sound when you let off the throttle quickly. I got mine from mymini.

I just installed a mini madness filter in my '04 JCW. Not hard to do. They suggest a few mods while you're in there that are real easy to do. The instructions come on a disc, though. If you do not have a pc in your garage (I do) you might print it out as a .pdf.
It comes from the factory oiled, although it doesn't say that explicitly. Also I bought some recommended oil for the filter, but cannot find the specs on how much oil to use when I clean it next time. I will contact them before then I hope.
Beats the hell out of the paper filter for a hundred plus bucks a pop.

I have this filter in my '06 JCW and it was definitley worth the price compared to the original paper filter. As stated by MM, if you are having problems with it, give them a call, they'll be glad to help out. You'll be very happy with the boost in performance you'll get.

I installed the MINI Madness JCW filter and it fits like a dream. This might sound like a silly question, but are you sure you have a JCW intake and not the stock intake? If you have the JCW then there is no way it won't fit unless you were shipped the wrong item.
