Gr8Force, the way your K&N matches your M7 brace is what I wanted to do but in the K&N red since I've gone the red route under the hood. So at this point I have purchased both of these CAI's and may switch out to see the difference for myself or mix and match like I do my socks. Keep the info rolling its not installed yet!

They're powder coated. That's pretty cool that you get to try out both before deciding. Good luck with your decision. Whichever way you go it'll work for you.

The argument has been made that the K&N is a hot air intake, not only because it is unsheilded from engine heat, but also because the tubing included with it is aluminum, (or at least some kind of metal), which absorbs engine heat quickly, further heating the air going into the engine.

The ALTA is completely closed off from the engine, (especially if you get the box top to go with it), so it is a cold air intake. Or at least coldER air intake...

And, as we all know, cold, dense air is what we want going into the engine, not hot air.

Good thing I have the DFIC to cool things off.

I'm just considering the ALTA but want to check with the pros. With an MCS automatic, do I use the OEM hose or is there one specfically for the MCSa?
